CHAPTER FIVE

Amber's pov
“This will be your chambers for the duration of your stay,” the man told me as he pulled open the door and I slowly walked into the beautiful cream room.
‘the duration of my stay,’ his words reminded me that this wasn't permanent. What would happen to me when I had given the Lycan King his heir?
Would he kill me then?
“I'm Jason, the beta of this pack.” The man introduced himself and I merely nodded
“Amber,” I responded and took his outstretched hand.
“I know everything seems strange and weird right now but I'm sure you'll grow fond of our pack.” Jason told me as I hugged myself.
“Is he going to kill me when I give him his heir?” My voice was no more than a whisper.
“Amber, Alex isn't as cruel as he has been painted to be.” Jason replied and I didn't miss how he tiptoed round the question, not directly giving me an answer.
“I don't want to be here,” I told him and he let out a sigh,
“It's either this or your life,” he reminded me and my heart dropped.
I was really stuck here, this was my new life.
I spent the rest of my day in my room, anxiety eating me up as I knew what would happen tonight.
The Lycan King would visit my chambers…
I shuddered at the thought as I wondered if he would force himself on me.
A feeling of guilt gnawed within me as somehow, the thought of being with him intimately didn't repulse me.
What was wrong with me?
It didn't matter that he was devastatingly handsome and that somehow I was drawn to him.
I couldn't stay here.
What did he mean when he said I was his mate? That was impossible.
I had to leave this place. I had to find a way to escape but how…
The door to my room burst open and I jumped back as maids filed into the room.
“What is happening?” I asked them as they laid a red nightgown on my bed and an older woman stepped into the room.
“Alpha Alex failed to mention just how pretty you are.” The old woman complimented as she approached me and I took a step away from her.
“You don't have to be weary. I'm Mrs. Potts, the head omega and Alpha Alex has ordered me to prepare you for…tonight.” The woman's cheeks turned a dark shade of red and all the maids looked uncomfortable.
My heart dropped at her words and my mouth opened and closed as I tried to find the right words to speak.
“I- I think I can prepare myself…alone.” I replied as embarrassment washed over me.
The woman's eyes softened in understanding and she offered me a small smile.
“I know these must be very unusual circumstances for you my dear but we would get in trouble with the alpha if he finds out we left you to do everything by yourself.” She explained and my heart dropped.
What would he do to them? His ruthlessness was no secret to anyone.
I swallowed my pride and let the women prune and pride me to perfection for their alpha.
“You look perfect,” Mrs. Potts informed me when they were done and the maids left the room.
“Thank you,” I muttered as anger bubbled within me as I felt like a mare ready to be auctioned off.
“I know you might be scared, especially with what everyone has been saying, but trust me Alpha Alex is one of the kindest men I know. He will treat you right,” she encouraged with a warm smile and I offered her a weak one in return.
Mrs. Potts left the room and I waited until I couldn't hear any movement around my door.
I gently pulled open the door and when I was sure the coast was clear I sprinted towards the front door.
I changed into my wolf the second I was out of the pack house and began running towards the borders.
If alpha Alex and everyone else in this pack thought I was going to be docile and complacent to their demands then they all had another thing coming.
He wasn't going to keep me here against my will.
My wolf whined within me and urged me to return to the pack house but I ignored her. She was hurt and vulnerable right now and most definitely not fit to make any decisions.
I didn't get far though before a loud howl echoed into the night and my heart dropped. Somehow, I knew it was Alpha Alexander.
My heart hammered against my chest as I pushed myself harder, just a little further and I would be out of this pack.
My paws barely hit the floor and just as the borders came into view, a body slammed into mine and I went tumbling to the floor.
My wolf whimpered as I struggled to rise to my feet but a growl stopped me in my tracks.
Alpha Alex's huge wolf approached me slowly with rage in his eyes and I scrbled backwards.
My eyes darted around as I tried to find an escape route but I knew there was no way he was going to let me leave.
Desperate for one last chance, I turned back and began running. A vicious growl tore from Alpha Alex before he pounced on me and turned me around.
He pinned me to the floor as he changed into his human form.
“Shift, now.” He commanded, his voice laced with unbridled anger.
Recognizing the alpha's command, my wolf shifted on it's own accord and my cheeks flushed when his warm, naked body pressed against mine.
His eyes held mine and I gulped as I glimpsed the glint in his eyes.
What was he going to do to me?
