“You do remember her from that night, right?” Abraham said, his gaze also resting on me just as Damien’s was. Both of them stayed quiet for a few seconds, simply staring at me.
After I had left that night, I had no idea that he or even Abraham would ever remember me. I had always believed he must have forgotten I even existed, and I never expected them to recognize me so easily.
I felt a bit intimidated by their stares but stood my ground. I was no longer the weak hybrid from five years ago, but the Luna of Greenwood. I was stronger than I had been then.
Damien stood up and approached me slowly, his gaze studying me so closely that I was forced to stand still without moving. Then he shifted his gaze for a second, and his eyes rested on the twins beside me.
His entire body went rigid instantly, his nostrils flaring as he inhaled deeply. His steps hastened, and in a second, he was in front of me, then stooped low in front of Ronan first.
He slowly touched his face, sniffed his neck, and did the same to Lucian.
“How is this possible?” he exclaimed loudly, totally shocked.
“Damien, I’m here because of them, please, I need your help,” I pleaded, not minding the shock on his face and hoping he would actually be able to help.
But Damien stood up and grabbed my neck with so much force that I was forced to let go of the twins and stagger backward.
Strangely, I felt the same feelings I had when I first met him. Those feelings made it impossible for me to resist or reject him whenever he touched me.
“What did you do?” he growled at me, but I ignored his question and tried to break free.
“How come you are able to give birth to my pups?" He asked again, his eyes filled with confusion and shock.
“What do you mean?” I retorted, struggling to get the words out.
“Isn’t it natural for a woman to get pregnant after sleeping with someone?” I muttered, then pushed him away with a lot of force, and he let go.
My eyes widened in surprise that I was able to do that, but he sneered at me and charged toward me again, only for Ronan to block him.
“Don’t touch Mommy,” Ronan voiced out, somehow regaining his strength, and I turned to him, happy to hear his voice after such a long time.
“Damien, why don’t you calm down and speak nicely to them,” Abraham cut in as well, stopping him from doing anything stupid.
“You don’t have to worry about me ruining anything for you. I’m already married, and I will leave the pack as soon as I get to the bottom of the issue with my kids."
"I just need your help to treat them,” I said, hoping he was kind enough to consider the fact that they were his blood and not let them die.
“Married?” he repeated, his eyes filled with disdain once more.
“You gave birth to my pups and got married to another man?” he asked, baffled.
“He is the Alpha of Greenwood, and these kids are his,” I replied, wanting to make it clear to him that even though the kids had his blood running in them, Austin was the only father I acknowledged for them.
“What a joke!” Damien chuckled.
“I don’t care whoever you are married to, but you are never stepping out of this house ever again,” he roared.
“What… do you mean?” I questioned. There was no way he wanted the kids. For someone who paid and threw out a woman after sleeping with her, he didn’t deserve my children.
“Sofia, why don’t you settle down in the house first and let the kids rest, then you can talk later,” Abraham offered, but I refused.
“If you’re not going to help, then I will leave immediately,” I threatened and turned toward the door, but it slammed shut with a loud bang in front of me as I reached it.
“Do you think I was bluffing? You are never leaving here again,” he said, and I sank to the floor with the twins hugging me.
…
Abraham showed me to a large room, close to the one Damien lived in, and asked us to settle in first. By that time, Ronan and Lucian had already fallen asleep.
I had thought this visit would be as brief as possible, but I hadn’t expected to be faced with a situation like this.
“What about Elena?” I asked before Abraham left the room, and he answered me that she had also been given a room to stay in and was doing fine.
“The party for Julian and Miranda’s wedding is two hours from now. I heard you’re sisters, so if you’re willing to come, I can arrange it,” Abraham said, but I declined immediately.
Going to the wedding of the two people who betrayed me and caused this whole mess wasn’t exactly something that would help me.
I sighed while watching the kids sleep and couldn’t believe Damien’s reaction and ridiculous commands. Clearly, he was shocked that I had given birth to his pups, but what did it matter to a man like him? He could obviously get as many pups as he wanted to become his heir.
I quickly reached for my phone next and called Austin, but he didn’t pick up the call. So I sent him a message that we were fine so he wouldn’t worry too much.
Once morning arrived, I would discuss things more clearly with Damien and make sure he saw no reason to keep us here.
…
I woke up to the room darker than it had been when I fell asleep and reached out to touch my kids, but the bed was empty. Alarmed, I jumped to my feet and searched the room in the dark, but there was no sight of them.
I rushed out of the room as panic raced through my body, fearing what could have happened to them or whether Damien had kidnapped them from me while I was asleep.
My feet raced down the stairs as I screamed both their names, not minding anything. I stopped at the sight of others flooding the large hall. Then I remembered the party Abraham had talked about and panicked even more.
What if the twins had gone to the party and someone discovered them? Then their existence would be known to the whole pack.
Moving quietly and trying as much as possible to go unnoticed, I looked around for them in the room, but it was so big. So I moved further inside.
“Isn’t Miranda the luckiest among us? She managed to coax Julian into asking for a royal wedding from the Lycan King.” I heard one of the girls gossiping and turned toward them.
They were Miranda’s close friends back in high school. Her leeches, who always found pleasure in taunting me.
“She can’t be said to be the luckiest, after all, the Lycan King is still single,” the other girl whispered back.
“I’m sure the Lycan King will never get married. Many she-wolves have been trying to get close to him for years without succeeding."
"I’m sure when he dies, Julian will take the throne,” the first person replied, and her friend hit her shoulder lightly.
“What about Miss Tanya? She might succeed.”
I shook my head silently to hear them speak such nonsense and moved away from there, but bumped into one of the servants carrying wine and got drenched by the drinks.
I gasped and moved away before the broken glass could injure me, then apologized to the servant and turned to leave but one of the girls from earlier spotted me and called out my name.
“Sofia?”
