She’s not our mate.
I know that. I’ve known that since I met her. And yet I can’t help but feel connected to this young woman. She’s curled into my chest and even drooling. Instead of disgust, I find it cute. I’m relieved that she can find some peace after all she’s been through. I let my fingers trail through her dark hair again and it causes her to snuggle against me.
My wolf isn’t sure what to make of these feelings. Terra is more of a solitary sort and has only cared about one person before. These fillings that our charge brings to the surface? They’re all new. She’s tucked under my chin so her natural scent engulfs me. I don’t find it abhorrent, in fact I find it relaxing. She reminds me of a patch of wild flowers.
