Axel led us to deep into the forest and to a giant hole in the ground. He nodded at me. “Hazel, you go first.” I looked over the edge and winced. “I can’t see the bottom.” All I could see was a long spindly rope that was tied up here and dangled down into the abyss. Axel chuckled. “You’ve got to trust me, the bottom is down there.” Ash scrambled on my shoulder looking far down. “What do you think, Ash? Should we try to go down?” He glanced over at me and gave a tiny nod. I lifted an eyebrow at him. I wasn’t expecting him to answer me. I was going to have yet another thing to question Angel about.
