Stephanie
Stephanie was afraid her legs were going to give out on her. Her stomach was threatening to empty itself. Everything around her seemed to be moving in fast forward while she was stuck in slow motion. Before Jake had even opened the door, she could tell he thought it would be bad. His eyes and his body language had urged her to brace herself. She hadn’t known what to expect. Fear had already been racing through her body. The unknown just added to it.
When he opened the door at first, she had been relieved because it seemed normal. No dead bodies or notes written in blood like what she’d expected from watching too many bad television shows. But after a few more steps into the room, she saw them. Hundreds of them.
