I coughed out blood as I tried to find the nearest escape route. Clutching my wounded belly, I crawled behind the upturned couch as I try to apply pressure to my wound.

Barely able to keep my eye open, I asked, 'What is it exactly you want?"

Barely holding onto the thread of life, I asked the question I feared the most.

'Did you ever truly care about me Jas?

'What do you think, huh?" she said with a smug smile on her face.

Embracing the darkness while I accepted defeat, I thought to myself, my worst nightmare finally came to pass, there was no point trying to fight to survive. My best friend, my confidant, my own cousin hated me- despite everything we faced together, the cold sleepless nights, the endless job interviews, the constant torture from my aunt, her mother. I'm starting to wonder if it was all pretense to strip me off my dignity, shred my heart into pieces and kill me in the most heart-wrenching way-

I smiled as I remembered the memories from the past. It turns out it was all in my face, I turned a blind eye to how sneaky Jas was. I blindly trusted her and it backfired.

Barely able to breathe, I swore on my last breath, 'If I ever get a second chance, I'd revenge and bring down Jas and her mother, strip them off their titles and fame, show the public who they truly are under the false mask of royalty- But now I accept my fate. I was perhaps destined to die a painful death.
