'Hey Kya your phone is buzzing so loud, gosh you have to reduce this ringtone my ears are bleeding." Miguel said handing me my phone- 'Sorry!" I apologized sarcastically. 'Hello, am I on the phone with Kya Matthews?" A calm feminine voice said over the phone. sorry who am I speaking with?" "Oh my apologies, I'm Kamila, the lawyer your parents hired before their tragic death" she responded. 'Hi Kamilar I never knew my parents hired a lawyer before their demise". I paused for a minute before talking- 'How may I help you?" I heard a giggle. "Oh my dear, we need to talk, how about I come over to Brew and Bliss café where you work?" she said, more of a statement than a question. 'How do you know where I work? are you stalking me?" I said worriedly while looking around for any suspicious movement- Tm your late parents lawyer remember?" I heard another laughter or maybe I'm just imagining it. "I'm too busy to stalk a girl in her early twenties." "Okay then, come over my by shift we'll have the conversation." 'What time will your shift end?" she asked. 'Umm, by seven." I'll finish taking customers order by 6:30 max so 7 is a good time to meet up. The day soon ended but I couldn't get my thinking straight, I had been worried about what my late parents lawyer is about to tell me or maybe she found out the reason behind their death, Oh no.... I brushed everything off and focused on the customer's order, screwing things up will make Joe mad. It was almost time to end my shift when a woman in her late fourties walked in, her suit neatly ironed and her hair sleeked to the back in a neat ponytail making her 100k swift and professional, the only thing that gave away her age is her strict demeanor, asides that, she looks like she's basking in her early thirties- Oh to age gracefully- I instantly knew it was the lawyer.., walking towards her and I greeted her with a slight smile. "Hi Miss Kamila" I said offering her a sit. "It's a pleasure meeting you." 'Hello dear, you've grown as much as I expected." She sat. I sat opposite her offering her a plate Of dessert. 'so to what pleasure do I owe this visit?" I asked the lawyer seated opposite me still with a smile on- 'Kya dear, I came here personally to talk to you about the inheritance your late parents left behind, I would have sent my assistant but it's more important I come myself" 'What about it?" I asked confused. 'Because I've never heard of any inheritanc e not even from my aunt" 'Your late parents left you an inheritance that can sustain you for life but it co mes with a condition." She placed a document on the table. 'Umm what condition?" I picked up the document and flipped through it. 'Since when does an inheritance come with a condition?" 'Your late parents put it with the inheritance dear." She took a bite of her cake and faced me again with a sly smile. 'so what's the condition?" still confused. She tapped on the paper in my hands and said 'Yerev according to the document, it says that you have to get married within three months to unlock the inheritance." Shocked I asked her, "Get married? What do you don't even have a boyfriend so how am I expected to get married in three months?" I said with my eyes practically bulging out of the socket. Something like a glint disappointment flashed through her eyes but it cleared soon enough returning to her normal expression, How professional can this w oman be? That's what your parents demanded before their demise and I can do nothing to change. 'So you're saying I have three months to find a boyfriend and get married?" I cut her off before she could finish her sentence- 'HOW am I supposed to do that?.-. 'I'm so busy with work and the café so I don't even have time to date not to tal k of getting married" I faced her with an unreadable expression. 'Dear, I'm so sorry I wished I can help you but that's what the document says. She paused and then continued. The only way we can change it is if your parents change their mind and I'm af raid they are late now." She lowered her voice at the last part. understand you but how am I supposed to get married in that small amount of time huh?" I said more like a question directing to her- She searched into her bag finding what I presume another document and han ded it over to me. "l know it's a little amount of time but I'm sure you'll make i The little Kya I've known since when she was five is as brave as the one here with me now" believe this is the end Of our meeting" She stood up; offering me a slight hu g 'We'll meet soon Kya, it was nice having a conversation with you dear." ma'am." I said returning her hug. She was on her way out before she turned to me and said, "And remember, no one has to know about our conversation not even your closest family member 'Uhmm why?" I said with a confused 100k- 'Don't worry dear, you'll know soon enough" she smiled- 'Bye Kya." 'Uh bye Miss Kamila it's a plea... 'You can call me Kamila" she cuts me off. As she walked out of the café I kept wondering why she asked me not to tell a Anyone, including my closest family member, which is Jas, I can barely hide any secrets from her. Though I would love to tell Jas, ignoring Kamila's request but something kept telling me to keep it to myself. I followed my guts cause my guts are never wrong I brushed it off heading back to the counter when Joe approached me and asked what was wrong because I kept my confused 100k on- 'Don't tell me that woman threatened you into doing something you don't want to?" More like a statement he asked me looking concerned. 'Nah it's nothing, just found out something weird and interesting." I said with a huff. "Okay then, sure you're good huh?" He asked heading towards the counter to drop the new coffee brewer- the way, we need to clean up, it's closing hou I know, I'll clean up before leaving... 'Hey Joe, is it possible for someone to get married in three months?" I asked h im. '1 don't think so, if it's possible it's most likely not a marriage with love. Why?" "Oh, nevermind. 'Goodnight Joe" I said with a chuckle. 'Night night Starshine-" He headed towards the door and gave me a wink before leaving- I made sure I cleaned up before leaving and left everything in order. On my way back home, I kept wondering why Kamila asked me to keep our co nversation all to myself because my aunt and Jas are the only blood related family I have left, even if my aunt acts like a pain in the ass most times. Well I'd just have to keep this one to myself.
