The words echoed through me like a death knell.
“This is no half-blood.”
My chest tightened. My blood turned to ice. I didn’t hear the rest of what the council murmured, didn’t see Seraya’s thin smile curling in the torchlight. All I knew was that the truth was out. The veil was gone.
By dawn, I was summoned again, this time, there was no procession, no guards to escort me. Only Kael.
