Power wasn't the most important thing in the world to me. Money was. Power simply came right after it.
To attain both, a person had to work relentlessly, so relentlessly that some days, they forgot to eat. I'd already acquired both. Too much of both, if I was being honest.
So the question was, why did I still work just as hard as I had when I was chasing them? Because work had become a part of who I was. Work came first, no matter what. I'd left Ava in bed a week ago because I had to fly to Paris to oversee an unfinished project my company was handling there.
