AVA'S POV
I stared into Kade's green eyes and swallowed hard, a wave of fear and annoyance bubbling inside me.
Yet again, Gideon had managed to creep back into my life. Only this time, it was worse.
Kade wanted to go looking for my lover... a man who didn't exist. But the man he was really looking for was Gideon, and I didn't want Kade to find him.
Not under any circumstances.
I tipped my chin up, wiping my tears away with my free hand. “You won't find him,” I whispered, shaking my head. “Because I don't have a lover. I already told you that.”
Kade released my wrist and stepped back. “And I don't believe you.”
Panic surged through me, and I tried again. “Don't waste your time... Like I said, you won't ever find…”
“Is that a challenge?” Kade asked, his eyes flickering with dark amus
