CHAPTER 9
My Ex
His pink shirt wrinkled into plain ash pants anchored in place by a brown belt.
He probably decided to send her flowers before going to work?
Nora's gaze dropped to the purple wrap the flowers poked out from, and then up at him." Dan what are you doing here?"
"Babe...I came to apologize. Yesterday..I...I didn't know what came over me." He looked down. "I should never have done that."
Her eyes narrowed, as a familiar pang of pain seared her chest. But it didn't hurt as much as the day before.
She didn't know why.
"Yesterday? So after months of f*****g her? It is only the day I caught you, you are remorseful for? That's the only regret in your head.. yesterday? You are a scumbag... Daniel. I don't want to see you here. "
" Please you have to believe--"
" Believe you? Tell me. What she said is it true? You have been f*****g her for months?"
Dan looked down again, the concession in his downcast eyes, his weak posture.
"What the hell is going on here?" Came a deep voice from behind her, making her jump.
Fucking hell. She knew he was still in, but his voice unravelled her all the same. Not in a scary way, more like I-can-ruin-you-again kinda way.
Heck, if Richard wanted to f**k her right in front Dan, nothing would stop him, and she was scared her self-control might be too weak to obey her mind and stop him. She was scared her body would break because of the sheer pleasure he would make her feel.
He had his big black shirt on, but what caught her gaze was the portion of clothing his waists had claimed.
Her faded silver-jean shorts. It was too f*****g tight on him, and it contrasted largely to the big shirt he had on.
For a moment there all thoughts of Dan disappeared.
Her lips twitched, as she fought to hide her smile, the laughter that threatened to bubble out of her.
No, she couldn't laugh. She was supposed to be pissed.
What was this man doing ransacking her things? Her clothes?
But even the anger wouldn't arrive as intended, because just gazing at his sturdy long, sexy legs---she shook her head, straightening her gait.
"Uhh... nothing you should worry yourself about."
She would address her clothing later.
Dan's mouth dropped and his eyes widened as he stared up at Right. "f**k me."
"I'm not gay, unfortunately." Right responded, in an apathetic tone.
"I... I'm sorry. " Dan shook his head like he couldn't believe his eyes." Mr....Mr Right? Of Vixeron Group? What in the hell are you doing in this kind of place?" He was utterly bewildered.
" Excuse me?" Nora folded her arms, disbelief coloring her cheeks.
Dan dropped the flowers on the pavement, like he was having a rethink of his priorities all of a sudden. "It's truly an honor to meet you sir?" He walked forward, placing his left hand on his right arm subserviently, as he offered a hand shake.
Richard ignored the hand, and ignored him too, turning to Nora."Do you two know each other?"
"My ex. " Shame washed her face at the thought of it.
"Sir, I have been trying to get a job at your one of your companies sir. All my applications have failed. Sir maybe you can put in a word for me.. please. Since you ehh... know Nora. I guess we can be close too"
" No we can't. As for your applications, you can apply again. If you qualify you'll be considered."
" Dan you need to leave." Nora couldn't hold her embarrassment anymore.
She wasn't really comfortable with the fact that Richard was being snarky with him, it was making her more embarrassed. Wether she liked it or not, she had once dated Dan.
Yeah. She had dated a cheat, as much as it shamed her to admit.
Dan's eyes lit as if suddenly remembering why he came. He picked up the flowers. "I came to give you this. Please forgive me baby. I can't do without you in my life. Please forgive and forget. I was just using her for the sex... that's all."
A low angry growl emanated from beside Nora.
"If you don't send this man away this instant....I am not sure you'd like the next action I'd take." Richard rumbled. "I am merely respecting you by holding myself back."
Nora closed her eyes, taking a deep breath. This was not what she wanted, at all. She reopened them and looked at Dan. " We are done Dan....I made that clear yesterday. Just... just leave please."
The confusion was thick on Dan's face. " Wait. Is there something between you two? My God. I can't believe this!!"
" That's it. Where's your f*****g gun!" Richard charged back into the house.
Nora's mouth dropped in horror. "Dan leave now! f*****g leave!"
Fear sparkling in his eyes, he dropped the flowers, mouthing an 'I'm sorry', before sprinting down the lane and out of sight.
Nora exhaled, and about sparse minutes later, Richard came back out. "Where the f**k did you keep your gun?" He looked around. "Where is he? Oh the coward ran."
Nora folded her hands, a poignant glower on her face. " So you mean to tell me, if you had found it you would have shot him?"
He narrowed his eyes as he approached her, stopping just one foot from her.
"You seem to underestimate me, little bunny. I will end him and his body would not be found."
" You are scaring me, Richard."
His expression shifted at that, his eyes softening. " I'm sorry. I didn't mean to."
"No, but seriously.. you can't..You don't get to do that. Chasing people away from my home. I don't even want to talk about you acting like it's your place. Like you own it."
"I can't stand my woman's ex begging her in front of me. "
" Who says I'm your woman?" She narrowed her eyes.
" I said. I own you, and as a result, your place. And you don't get to talk to your ex in front of me. " His voice raved with that darkness that stained everything about him.
"Hey, you don't get to tell me what to do," her frown deepened. " And you don't own me. "
" No? Then watch me kill him the next I see him close to you."
" Are you being serious right now?"
His eyes roamed her face." Judging from your response I'm sure you wouldn't want that princess. So why not be my good girl and come to daddy. " He wrapped his arms around her, pulling her to him and crashing his lips to hers.
She wanted to protest, to resist and she tried to, shrugging off from him. "I am not happy with you Right."
"Using my surname are we? It still sounds sexy on that tongue of yours. And I believe we can work together towards finding what makes you happy." A mischievous glint appeared in his eyes and before she could retort, he pulled her back to him and kissed her.
The desire to resist faded, giving way to the force of his kisses--it weakened her body, her soul.
As they were kissing, a black Ferrari pulled up.
Nora made to push him away but he didn't budge, his arms tightened around her as he kept kissing her, till she began tapping him violently on the shoulder and he pulled away chuckling.
A slim man, the one who'd come last night in the Rolls Royce, appeared again, wearing a white shirt and matching jeans.
He wasn't tall, a little over 5 feet.
"Master Right." He walked forward. "Good morning."
He had med-glasses on, his black hair was dotted with grey, and it was flat, combed promptly to fit his casual wear.
He looked a little close to forty.
He gave a bow. " I came to check if you are ready to go?"
He gave a curt bob of his head to Nora, a jaded acknowledgement of her presence, indicating that she was someone he had no business with.
Richard sighed. "She is not one of my flings. Fred. She is my woman."
Fred spun his head to her, his mouth dropping utterly, making him look ridiculous.
How shocked could he be exactly?
He turned back to his boss. "Master, you are kidding right?"
"Yes he is. I am not his woman."
" She hasn't accepted yet that is. But she will soon." Richie stated arrogantly, casually, to which Nora scoffed.
"My goodness..this is... unbelievable." He turned to her, his gaze now holding a new expression, a changed one.
One of deep awe, reverence, like he was beholding a goddess. "Whatever you did to tie down my master needs to be learnt in university courses, my lady." He bowed
Nora shook her head, completely bewildered by these people. She couldn't even coin a response.
An underscore to how confounded she was. Speechless was the word.
But her heart seemed to disagree; with the way butterflies flew around inside her.
Richard grumbled in disapproval. "She didn't...'tie me down'. That...seems to be a not so positive word." His eyes gleaned with something unspoken, something mischievous that he appeared to be withholding himself from saying.
"What is he a master of?" Nora blurted out. Maybe it was time she had started disco
vering more about this mysterious man. He owed it to her if she was to try trusting him.
