Kaida POV
“Alpha?” a distant voice called out to me, echoing in the endless void. I raised my head ever so slightly, trying to locate the source of the sound but found my body too weary to maintain the strain of holding my own head up. Exhausted, I laid back down, trying to slip back into the peaceful slumber I had been awoken from, but the voice persisted, calling out to me once more. I tried to shut it out, wanting nothing more than to sleep away the pain overtaking every fiber of my being, but it was relentless. It called out, over and over again, denying me my rest, until I was forced to pry my heavy lids open.
The shadow of a blurry silhouette clouded my vision as I tried to focus my gaze, blinking a few times in hopes it would help them to focus better. Slowly, the world
