Say Sorry

Sophia's proposal made them all sit in a circle near the fireplace. Not only that, but everyone also seemed enthusiastic, although it was more accurate to say that they were interested in the exchange offer proposed by Sophia. This was clearly written on their faces. "Alright, what do you mean by a deal?" Gale started the conversation, and the others listened intently. "Yeah, it's like some of us will go fishing, others will gather firewood, and the rest will provide water. After that, we'll divide the results equally for the food we get." "Is this beneficial?" Franciss protested. Franciss Rand, a lawyer who had worked for the largest law firm in Canada for twelve years, was known for his critical nature, especially after they were stranded on the island. Despite that, he remained calm and chose to stay neutral after they got stranded. However, now he seemed to need a 'profit' from the effort he would put in. Besides Gale and his assistant Steve, there was also Lydia Haller, an automotive sales agent who had gone sailing with her boyfriend, whose whereabouts were now unknown. But because Lydia had an attractive body, Gale behaved like a parasite, never staying far from her, taking advantage of Lydia's sadness and flirting with her. He did this because he couldn't do it to Sophia, who had formidable defenses and didn't hesitate to kick Dan in the groin simply because he accidentally fell on her. "Oh, that was the worst." Dan mumbled, rolling his eyes as the horrifying memory suddenly flashed in his mind. "What did you just say?" Andrew, who accidentally heard him, asked out of curiosity. "A—um, nothing, I was just thinking that Sophia's proposal was quite interesting." He replied, but it wasn't entirely a lie. At least someone here was thinking rationally besides him. Sophia debated with Franciss for a long time about the benefits and potential of working together on the uninhabited island. Dan, who could actually handle the situation better than the others, listened patiently. With the experience and lessons from his brother in the past, Dan didn't really need a partner. Even if he was alone, he believed he would survive until the rescue team arrived. "Alright, how about we rotate tasks every two days?" Sophia suddenly suggested, as if taking a neutral position. "For the first day, Lydia and Franciss can gather firewood in the forest, while Gale and Steve will be responsible for collecting coconuts for our water supply. The rest, Dan and Andrew, will catch fish for food. Meanwhile, I'll go into the forest to see if there's a water source we can use. We can't rely on the coconuts here; they'll run out if we take them too often." After saying that, Dan immediately raised his hand, his face slightly pale, rejecting the task distribution. "I don't agree with that!" he exclaimed loudly. Sophia frowned, surprised by Dan's rejection. "What do you want, then?" "Regarding that... we don't know what's in there. We don't know if this island has a volcano or not, and besides, you're a woman. I'll go with you!" Dan insisted, which made Gale Hansen laugh. "Oh, look. This pervert wants to go into the forest alone with the beautiful lady. What do you think he'll do?" he mocked, smiling cynically, clearly belittling Dan. "I'll tell you, I'm not a pervert. And besides, I have a knife with me. Isn't that much more advantageous?" Dan tried to negotiate. Although he didn't say it explicitly, he was actually worried about going into the forest alone. Knowing that Dan was concerned about her intention to go alone, Sophia felt touched. Despite her initial impression of Dan being annoying and lecherous, she realized that Dan was quite caring. This was evident when Dan helped dig the ground to bury the body they found earlier. Maybe she had misjudged him. "Alright, let's start this tomorrow. And you, Dan, better you wake up early, because I don't want to be in the forest until nightfall," Sophia warned. Reluctantly, Dan nodded in agreement. After they all agreed, they began roasting the fish Dan had caught earlier, dividing them equally, including giving some to Sophia, who looked very hungry. Therefore, after some fish were cooked, Dan quickly took one for himself and handed the rest to Andrew to distribute evenly among the others. As Andrew was distributing the fish, Dan moved closer to Sophia, giving her a fish. "Is this an apology?" Sophia guessed. "Um... sure. You can say it that way." Sophia smiled and accepted the fish he offered. Despite being unseasoned, the fish tasted delicious with a perfect roasted aroma. Maybe it was because Sophia hadn't eaten properly all day, so anything besides wild berries tasted very good. "Hey, I also want to apologize for this morning," Dan started the conversation. "I didn't mean to, my foot slipped on the sand, and it just happened." He stammered, his face showing a bit of fear. "Wow, I didn't expect you to be quite responsible, perv." "Dan Reagow, that's my name, and I'm not a pervert." Sophia laughed. Honestly, she was very beautiful in Dan's eyes. He couldn't believe that he had been on the island for two days with such a beautiful girl. Although Sophia wasn't the only girl there, according to Dan, she was much prettier than Lydia. Just look at her long hair always tied in a ponytail, her beautiful blue eyes, her sensual lips that weren't too thin, and her smooth pale skin. Even though she wasn't as sexy as Lydia, Sophia had her own graceful side that made Dan admire her. Because of that admiration, he took out one of the chocolates he had found on the dead body earlier and gave it to Sophia. "Is this really chocolate?" Sophia was surprised. "Another apology, I hope it's not too bad and hasn't expired yet." "Wow, this is really special. Then I won't refuse it." Sophia smiled as she took the chocolate from Dan. "I'll also consider this a start to changing my perception of you." "What do you mean?" "A perv." Sophia said with a little laugh. She was so beautiful; it made Dan blush and become flustered. What was this? Was he falling in love? "But hey! I'm not a perv!" Dan looked annoyed, but Sophia still chuckled while starting to eat her fish.
