The Unexpected Luna

The Next Morning

I wake up smiling. “Good morning beautiful” I’m greeted, and a delicious smell floods the room. “Breakfast is served, my dear” he says with a smile and a kiss on the forehead. Oh I could get used to this. “Thank you” I say smiling ear to ear. I don’t remember much from last night, but I remember everything that happened in this room. I’ve never felt so safe with anyone. I check my phone, Kylie and Shay are blowing me up in our group chat. They must think I’m dead. “I’m okay. Talked to that cute guy that was staring and went home with him lol” now the chat is blowing up with “tell me more” “is he as delicious as he looks” “i’ll go get a plan b” “tell us EVERYTHING” “kenzie don’t ignore us”. I turn my phone off. I’m going to savor every moment with him before it’s over. “I have some people I want you to meet” Tyler says to me shyly. I nod as I take the aspirin he brought me and chug the orange juice to wash it down. “I don’t have anything to wear, I’d rather not wear the skanky dress I wore to the club”. Tyler laughs as he goes into the hall and comes in with a bag, “I sent a friend out to get you this” he says handing it to me. I pull out a beautiful blue dress that matches his eyes “I can’t accept this, it must’ve costed a fortune” “please, let me spoil you.” Tyler snaps in response, I grin and nod in thanks and make my way to the bathroom to change. I go into the living room and Tyler’s jaw drops “this is what I mean when I say you’re beautiful, let’s go my dear” I blush at the comment and grab is hand, we make our way down a long hallway and get to a door. He knocks and an older man with silver hair opens it “dad, there’s someone I’d like you to meet, can you get mom?” he says smiling. His father gestures us in and walks into another room. Shortly after him and an older lady with long curly brown hair that is starting to grey walk out. She greets us both with a hug “mom, dad, this is Kenzie” Tyler says smiling “Kenzie this is my mom, Elaina, and my dad, Ray”. They both smile and we all say nice to meet you, they offer coffee and we sit down and chat for awhile. Something sparks a conversation about a “mate” although I’m not sure what that means. We’re just saying our goodbye’s when Ray asks to speak with Tyler and Elaina privately. I make my way out to the hallway and stand there awkwardly as people pass by. I hear muffled talking behind the door but I can’t make out what they’re saying.

**Tyler’s POV**

“Tyler she’s human. She can’t be your mate. Do you know how risky that is for our pack?” my dad says slamming his hands on the table. “dad, you know I can’t pick my mate. Fate does that for us.” “Ray, he’s right, you know. We wolves don’t pick who we love. The moon goddess does. We can figure out how to make it work. Tyler just needs to tell her everything.” my mom says in agreement. My dad nods in acceptance and I head to the hallway to meet my mate.

**Kenzie’s POV**

Tyler walks out, still smiling. I’m guessing their talk went well? “Kenzie, I need to talk to you” oh boy, there’s words you never want to hear. My hearts racing the whole way back to his place. We enter and he pulls out a chair at the dining room, gesturing me to sit. He pushes it in for me, and takes a seat as well. “I need you to know what I am” I nod nervously “those people were calling me alpha, because I am their leader. I’m the leader of the star light pack. I’m a wolf..” I nearly spit out the water I had poured myself before we left, “a what?” I ask. “I’m a wolf, Kenzie. I shift into a wolf. Eventually I’ll let him out and you can meet him too. His name is Mark. He has chosen you as his mate. That’s why every touch gives you chills. That’s why eye contact makes you weak in your knees. It’s the same way for me.” taking in all the information I sit there silently. After coming to terms I look at him and say, “okay, so what does that make me?” with a sigh of relief he tells me how it all works, and that he wants to make me his luna. Marriage? Luna? I feel as if the world has shifted and I’m on another planet. I’ve only known him one day, and from first glance I’ve felt like I’ve known him my whole life, maybe this is why. He asks me if I will accept the role as luna and I agree. He happily calls his mom and dad to tell them, Elaina immediately wants to start my luna training. “what about college?” I ask. “you can still go, you can live here though, or you can do online college so we don’t have to be apart” Tyler says assuringly. It makes me happy to know he never wants to be apart. It’s been one day and I’m already attached to this man, it’s way too early to say it, but I think I love him.
