The place was partly clean, but it was a bit dusty. He knelt beside her unconscious form and scooped her into his arms, the dust starting to get to him because he was asthmatic. By the time he made it out of the basement, he was wheezing slightly. He took a few minutes to catch his breath, halting the asthma attack coming on. He looked down at her. She looked so fragile. "I'm so sorry, Ellise. I didn't mean to hurt you," he whispered, even though he knew that she couldn't hear him. He carried her to the car and drove her home. Cecilia was alarmed. She began to bombard him with questions, but he ignored her and took Ellise to her room. He heated the room a bit, to warm her up. When colour had returned to her cheeks, he breathed a sigh of relief. He watched her as she slept soundly
