At the Golden Wheel
Casco didn’t look back as he left his house. Duvät’s presence was a dark blot on his mind. For the first time in his life, he couldn’t wait to leave the place. He jogged down the street toward the portal at the far end. From there, the next step was the Golden Wheel. A Hermes was stationed there, and, since the sun was yet to rise, it was unlikely he’d have to wait for an appointment.
He pictured the Guild-Lord’s kindly face. When they spoke at Duvät Gok’s trial, he had assured him that if ever he needed help … Perhaps he hadn’t expected to be asked for this kind of assistance, but Casco felt sure that if anyone could help Tess, Shamkarun Pieru of Leth would find a way.
