JENNIFER I got off my scooter, removed my helmet, and leaned it against the tree in front of our lecture hall. The cool shade offered a brief respite from the sun's relentless gaze. As I stood there, some students passed by me, muttering something I couldn't quite catch. A twinge of unease settled in my stomach, and I quickly fished my phone out of my pocket, only to realise that my battery was dead.
