Chapter 2

“Getting married? To who?” I asked and the tears that I tried to hide finally rolled out of my eyes. “I am tired of being deceived father! All this while, you told me that the reason I am not married is because they aren't good enough for me, when I am actually the one who isn't good enough! I am tired of being fooled! No one wants me and you know it!” I cried and father's grip on my hand tightened. “How easy do you think this is for me too? Do you know what I have to go through everyday, worrying that you might not survive! You're the only thing that reminds me of your mother! You think I would ever want to see you sad?” He rasied his voice at me for the first time in a while. “Then stop lying to me. I know I'll never get married. No one would ever want me. It's better you let you me go before beta Ryder and the others betray you because of me,” I answered. At that point, I was willing to do whatever it took. I knew I wouldn't forgive myself if my father had to lose everything that he had ever worked for just because I wasn't good enough. “You'll be getting married to Alpha Ethan Blackwood of the Ravenwood pack,” Father revealed. The moment those words rolled off his tongue, I couldn't help but scoff. I scoffed at how much father was willing to lie just to make me feel better. “Even if Alpha Ethan of Ravenwood pack was blind. He still wouldn't get married to someone like me,” o answered, still laughing. “I am being serious here, Lyra,” Father said…with the look in his eyes, I couldn't really tell whether he was lying or not cause he looked quite sincere but I knew what he had just said was totally impossible. “No you're not, father. You're only trying to fool me, as usual. Alpha Ethan is one of the strongest alphas that has ever existed. He is young, he's handsome, he's strong, he's wealthy and would have a thousand Luna's at the snap of his fingers so tell me why he would want to get married to me?” I asked, still mocking myself. “You should give me time to pack my things and think about when to leave. You should not leave me daydreaming about something that would never come true.” “You think you will last a second out there if you leave?” Father asked and I shrugged my shoulders. “At least if I die, everyone at silvermoon would be satisfied,” I answered, laughing. At that point, I didn't know what was going on in my head, but I was so scared. I was scared of what was going to happen to me and I was tired of my father always lying to make me feel better. “I will send in maids to get you prepared. We are leaving for Ravenwoood by evening,” Father said, then he walked out of the room. I was shocked…it didn't seem like father was joking. How would I get married to Ethan Blackwood? Before I knew it, my room was flooded with maids who brought in boxes and a set of clothes for me to choose from. But they didn't forget to bring their hatred glares along with them. The only one with warmth in her eyes was Amanda. She was five years older that I was but she was the only omega who was there for me. I looked into her eyes and she smiled brightly. She must have heard why father needed me to get dressed. “You all can leave. I'll be fine with just Amanda,” I said and they all dropped what they were holding before matching out of my room. I just couldn't afford being glared at every minute. Amanda shut the door then she rushed towardume and hugged me. “I am very happy for you, Lyra. I told you that one day, your father would find a perfect one for you,” she said. I scoffed. “It was all a lie,” I revealed before taking off the dress I had on before. “What was a lie?” She asked. “Everything my father told me was a lie. It was the men who rejected me,” I answered and the smile on her face dropped but she immediately picked it back up and held my hand. “Either ways, you'll be getting married to someone who truly wants and deserves you now,” she said. “I don't know, Amanda. Father says it's Alpha Ethan Blackwood from the Ravenwood pack. I still have a feeling that it's more like a deal and not a marriage. It's too sudden,” I answered. “Alpha Ethan Blackwood?” She asked with shock and fear in her eyes and I nodded. “People…. people say he's a devil…why would your father want you to get married to him?” She asked me with fear in her eyes and I smiled. “A devil?” I asked and she nodded. “People say he has a heart that's as hard as rock. Compared to the other alphas you know, he's ruthless and he cares less. He's strict and only does what he wants when he wants to. I do think that it would be a good idea to get married to someone like that…. especially when there are no genuine feelings involved.” I heaved a sigh…curiousity and fear lingered in my mind. “You really do not have to worry about me. At least it's better than having to leave the back and dying in the woods,” I said. “Leaving the pack? Were you asked to leave? Because you're human? That's unfair!” She sobbed. She was older but she kept acting like my younger sister. I couldn't help but see her that way. “I'll be fine, trust me,” I said to her and she nodded. No, she couldn't trust me. I knew the chances of me being fine were very slim. I sat in front of the mirror and admired my brown curly hair, emerald eyes and perfect face. My beauty was all that I had. I kept smiling, trying to lighten up my face but deep down, I was scared. I was scared of his things would go with alpha Ethan. I wondered if he would treat me worse than I was treated here. But at the same time, I was worried that everything that father said to me about Alpha Ethan was a lie and he just wanted to trick me out of the village in a way that would be less painful for me and maybe even him…then he would end me himself when we're out in the woods. Or maybe I was overreacting…father would never do that to me, would he? I wasn't sure of what waited me. Isolation? Marriage? Or death?
