32 Brenda and Gary joined them in the foyer of the fancy downtown restaurant. The night was filled with flowery smells—sweet, mellow and appeasing. The cool breeze, coming off the River Seine, was so alluring and tantalizing, and made them all feel a bit sentimental. The four friends were starving, not so much because of hunger, but because they were full of anticipation.
