Licia's POV My eyes squinted as I tried to adjust to the darkness, wondering where I was. The scent of a night-blooming Jasmine, hit my nose as I looked around me and realized I was in a moving vehicle. Suddenly a sharp pain shot between my shoulder and my neck and I realised my dress was sticky. “Ouch…” I whimpered in pain, my head throbbed with pain and my body ached all over like I was beaten. How long have I been unconscious, what happened to me during that period? Is the pack under an attack? Is Oliver okay? These thoughts went through my mind as I shivered. I adjusted to the darkness, as I stared again at the figure in the driver's seat. "Hello?" I croaked, my throat painfully dry. “Who are you, where are you taking me?” Whimpering I asked as he brought the car to a halt. I inhaled as I had a sight of his face, his eyes staring into mine. “Look who's finally awake, well I'm just doing my job.” He said in a gravelly tone. “Who sent you? Do you know who I am? I'm the mate of the powerful Lycan.” I said shifting in my seat with a frown on my face. I wasn't going to use the Lycan I detested to my favor. “I don't think you agree with your statement, do you think he would come save you?” The hitman probed. “Well, my job is done, you can leave.” He said unlocking the door. “I'm not supposed to say this, but it's going to get much worse for you.” He added. My stomach rumbled with dread as I stared back at him, paralyzed by his words. "Get out," he demanded coldly, turning to face his steering. But I didn't move, I just couldn't process what was happening as I sat still, not even knowing where he was dropping me. Angrily, he strode around and wrenched my door open, grabbing me roughly by the arm. I cried out as fresh pain tore through me. "I said NOW!" he yelled, spittle flying. His breath reeked of stale alcohol and cigarettes. He yanked me from the car and fell to the hard ground, as I lay there gasping for air. I looked around and couldn't recognize where I was. It wasn't up to 24 hours, I got to the Lycan pack and my life was being threatened. “What did Oliver mean about me not getting married to the Lycan? Is the Lycan responsible? What did Oliver not tell me?” The thoughts were getting much as I yelled in frustration. It was a deserted country road with twisted trees. There wasn't any sign of civilization. I was soon approached by an old lady I immediately called out to her, trying to know where I was and how I could locate the Lycan's pack. But her next response filled me with delight and shock. “You're in the Lycan's pack.” “What? This abandoned village is his pack?” I asked looking around me. “I guess you haven't been here before. The pack city is for only those who have earned it, we eat their crumbs.” She said as I stared at her sad face. “How can I get to the pack city?” I questioned not wanting to hear her sad stories, I had mine and I needed to know what was going on.” “Your wounds, they look bad, would you mind if I take a look at them?” She said coming towards me as I shifted backwards. “I'm running late, I'll be married to the Lycan today,” I said as she gave me a strange look. “You're the Lycan's mate?” She said in disbelief as I gave a quick nod while she shook her head “I don't think so.” She replied, turning away from me. “Because of my weight?” I asked as she shook her head slowly. “You're just a child. I'd advise you not to return to the pack house, but go far away from here.” She said as I gave a mocking laugh. What's wrong with everybody? “You're already marked.” She added. “It can't be,” I said as she pointed between my shoulder and neck. Immediately she did, the sharp pain returned as my legs wobbled with shock. “This isn't right, how?” I whimpered as she shrugged. “The ball is in your court, I'd advise you to go far away." She added, but I wasn't going to listen. What if she was sent by one of the Lycan's mistresses to discourage me? I need to know what happened to Oliver. I've finally been given a chance, mated to a powerful Lycan, I won't let this opportunity slide. “Please take me back to the City's pack,” I begged as she turned without a word, leading the way. Soon, I stood at the familiar crimson gate that had welcomed me a few hours ago into the pack and met Glee and the strict lady who had come to prepare me for the Lycan walk to meet me rather hurriedly. I acted as if nothing had happened, as I stood tall with a smile on my face. “Where have you been?” The lady asked with a storm of anger. “The rite is in two hours.” She added while I had a grin on my face. I would get the most out of this relationship. “Birdie, don't raise your voice on her. At least she's safe and that's what matters.” Glee interceded. “We searched all over for you, where did you go? The cameras didn't even see you leaving.” Glee said with concern. "Did the Lycan ask of me?" I asked, but was disappointed at the look on Glee's face. “I was bored and decided to check out the town,” I said with a confident grin. “Have you heard from Oliver?” Birdie suddenly asked as I gave her a stare. “But, I thought… His body–” “Oliver is an adult, he will find his way.” Glee interrupted as Birdie huffed and went back in. The pack was already filled with activities for the rites. “Tell me, where have you been?” She asked turning like she hadn't believed me earlier. “I was kidn*pped,” I said as laughter bubbled up within her. “Your jokes are expensive, please. Let's get you ready.” “I'll dress myself. You just touch my face.” I insisted when I got into the room, not wanting anyone to realize I'd been marked by a stranger. I looked dazzling in a white Cami gown and for the first time, I felt secure in my skin. "It's time. Let's not keep your mate waiting," an attendee said while I flashed her a smile. I was getting married in the worst circumstance. A crime I was trying to solve and my life is haunted. Glee came into the room with a strange look on her face. “Oliver, I think he's missing.” She said as I shifted uncomfortably, it was getting real. “And your parents, they're here…” She paused as I digested her words. This wasn't going to turn out well, what was Oliver warning me about? Why were my parents here? But it was too late to turn back, I couldn't say no to the Lycan Alpha. I was soon standing by the Lycan as we exchanged vows and our love under the Red Star that appears once in 5 decades. The rite was soon concluded, and we were cheered on by some members of the pack. It was clear I wasn't welcomed here, despite them not knowing I was a hybrid as I couldn't help but wonder my fate if they knew. Soon, it was time to show a sign of our consummation. He approached me, his eyes locked with mine. He smelt of Lei, but once he got close, he paused, seeming to be smelling something wrong, but he shrugged it and leaned in, his lips drawing closer to mine, I shivered in anticipation. But instead of a kiss, he whispered, his eyes still piercing into mine, sending chills down my spine while I prepared for the touch of his lips, only to hear his devastating words. "You cheat!” He suddenly said, backing away from me. “Do you think I would take you as my mate? I'd rather remain single if you were the only woman in the world," he said as I froze in shock. With that, he turned away, leaving the pack members murmuring amongst themselves, wondering what was transpiring. "Before the Lunar Tether, I cursed the day I met you. Forbidden Hybrid Licia Anderson, I reject you as my mate." he declared, his words piercing through my heart as the pack went into an uproar. “No,” I whispered as my eyes fell on Mother who held on an evil grin. “No, she didn't tell him I was a hybrid. No.” I whimpered as the pack looked like they'd soon pounce on me. But I was in for a greater surprise as the screen used in projecting our marriage rites suddenly came on and I was in it nude, while a wolf hovered over me, and soon his canine sank into my shoulders, marking me.
