Licia’s Pov
I woke up with a start, wincing as pain shot through my leg. The rays from the morning light shone brightly on me as I blinked in the light.
“Where was I?” As my eyes adjusted, I realized this wasn't my room.
Slowly fragments of my memory returned, the marriage, my escape, and the strong arms pulling me into the car.
Shadowy trees lined the walls, and the air smelled fresh, like pine.
Had the Lycan King gotten me? Unease gnawed at my gut.
Just then the door burst open, making me jump.
It was Chloe standing with hands on her hips, her face twisted in a sneer.
"Look who finally decided to wake up."
"Chloe? What are you doing here? Where am I? Why am I here?" I yelled, getting up as she ignored my question, striding to the window and yanking open the curtains.
“If I were you, I wouldn't think of escaping again.”
"Your husband will arrive shortly. We wouldn't want to be bad in-laws, while you're looking like a mess for your mate, despite that, this is the happiest day of our lives, getting rid of you to that notorious killer.” She laughed cruelly.
"Who knows, perhaps he'll finish what was started and claim you today."
Mate? The word sounded familiar to me as anger curdled in my gut. I wanted to scream that I hadn't asked for any of this, that I still didn't understand what was happening. But I knew it would fall on deaf ears. Chloe had never cared about my feelings before, so why start now?
"Don't tell me that the devil's daughter is still asleep, after trying to kill us all." Mother said, marching into the room furiously.
“Don’t you dare repeat that.” She said, raising her hands to hit me, but it suddenly hung in the air as my heart began pounding in my chest, and the room became chilled.
A powerful voice suddenly resonated through the room, tinged with authority.
"Only I have the right to lay a hand upon her, and no one else." He said.
And as if summoned by the voice, she was flung backward.
Wide-eyed with shock, I turned to face the source of this sudden display of power. And standing before me was a man of breathtaking allure.
His dark hair flowed like a raven's wing, his eyes molten gold, as a smile danced on his lips.
As he walked towards me, nausea began to rise within me, despite his looks, there was something off about him.
I turned to Chloe, but a gasp had already escaped her parted lips. No one knew the Lycan would possess such beauty.
“Are you okay?” He suddenly asked as I stared at him.
“What?” I asked, not finding the right words to give. In my confusion, the same voice I heard in my head last night whispered, “Mate.”
But he wasn't the man I met the night before, as different thoughts filled my head.
“Who was the man from last night? Was it a dream? What is that voice from within? I was losing my sanity.” When the voice of the Lycan Alpha brought me to reality.
“I told you, I didn't want a scar on her skin.” He said, his voice startling me as Father walked in, shivering.
“I apologize… We–”
“No, you don't.” He interrupted.
“She's coming with me.” He said, grabbing my hands as I stared at Father who removed his eyes from me, he had never looked me in the face before.
I immediately knew this wasn't going to end well as he took me with him.
“Alpha.” My father suddenly called out as I paused, anticipating his words, Chloe and Mother had long left the room with fear, not able to stand his presence.
“At least let me bless my daughter before she leaves, you know this will be the last time I'll be seeing her.” He said as I turned to stare at the man who bore me.
Earlier, he had sworn never to give his blessings to me, I guess he never expected this to happen.
“Five minutes, I'll be outside waiting, and consider everyone dead if anything happens to her.” The Lycan said, strolling out of the room, leaving only I and Father as he suddenly burst into tears.
“I'm… I'm so sorry… Find a place in your heart to forgive me.” He said as I just stared at the man who called himself my dad. I never experienced the love of a Father, to me, he was dead.
“Cut to the chase, this isn't the time for this, the deed is already done,” I said as he stared at me.
“You have grown into a beautiful girl. Your mother would be proud of you.” I gave a small laugh at his statement, beautiful? Mother? This was the first time he was mentioning her name.
“She isn't dead.” He said as I gave him a confused glance.
“Neither are you a human, you're–’
“I’m a hybrid, my mum was a werewolf,” I said interrupting him as all I felt was hatred and revenge.
“Why did you hate her so much? You created me and transferred the aggression to me.” I yelled, disgusted as he stood before me.
“You know how hybrids are treated in our world and you went ahead to have me, make my life difficult.”
“No, I told her to get rid of you and the s*x was just for fun, but she wouldn't heed, so your step-aunt, she –” he tried saying as I interrupted him once more.
“My step-aunt? You mean Mother? She messed with her Step-sister?” I asked not wanting to hear more as I turned to leave, I didn't know what life had for me, but it was better than living a lie, with the worst people on earth.
Revenge was all I felt as I walked out to meet the Lycan, my mind resolved.
But as soon as I stepped into the hallway, my gaze fell on Femi and Chloe, kissing on the balcony.
I couldn't believe my eyes as I walked towards them with rage.
“I think you're in the wrong place,” Chloe said as Femi turned his face away.
“How long has this been going on?” I asked as tears left my eyes.
“Is she… she is your girlfriend? So all this while you knew I was a hybrid?” I asked as she stared without any feeling of guilt.
“More reason I hated you, but you should be lucky no one knows about it apart from us, not even your Lycan. The werewolf blood and human blood should never be missed, it's a taboo.”
“How dare you?” I spoke as she shushed me.
“Don’t keep your groom waiting, you're perfect to be a s*x slave. Goodbye, sister, or shall I say, step-cousin.” She said with an evil smirk. But my emotions took over me as I ran forward and pushed her, but she missed a step and I watched her fall over the balcony, my name not leaving her lips till she fell with a thud, smashing her skull.
