AFTER OPENING HER LOCKER, Hilarie got out the textbooks for her first two classes: AP English Literature and Composition, and AP Calculus AB. She mentally groaned as she held them. They were so heavy. One of these days, her arms were going to snap from lugging them around. After closing her locker, she turned to walk to class...and any hopes of her day turning out fine quickly dwindled. In front of her stood Eric.
