Chapter 31

LeeAnn pov.

I really felt something was off today. It's been a few days, and he hasn't touched me again. Did I do something wrong? He's been really quiet like he's scared to say something to me. Even Lola has been quiet lately.

“Hey girl, you wanna go for a run after work. I can put the hotel on hold for a day if you want to go on a run,” I knew that would perk her up.

“H3ll yeah, I wanna go on a run. It's been awhile Lee, I need to run.” I knew that would excite her, so I told her.

“Alright, well then, let's do it after work then. Well, drive back to the kingdom, and we'll go for a run. She went quiet afterward. When I finished up work. Drive by the hotel to see how it was going. It was almost done when I drove by it. I really wanted to stop and help out. But I promised Lola that we would go for a run, so when we got back to the castle, I parked the car and took off in the woods. I stripped from my clothes and then started to shift into my wolf.

“It's about time. We used to run all the time. But since we've been here, we haven't.”

“I'm sorry, girl. Come on, let's go for a run. So that's what we did,we ran through the woods for a few hours. I left her run as much as she wanted. She hunted down a few rabbits. She snuffed the ground. And then she growled at something. We sniffed the air, I didn't know that scent. But it was pleasant. Where was it coming from. Then, a very large black wolf came into view. He wasn't as tall as Lola was. But he was large. He growled like he wanted us to submit. H3ll to the no. We growled at him right back. As he let out a weird laugh.

“LeeAnn it's me, Xander. The guards linked me telling me you were out here in the woods. So I thought I would come out here to keep you company.” Lola growled at him,

Wait, Lola, why are you growling at him.”

“Ghee I don't know why don't you ask him he knows why, I want to go back now.”

“Wait a damn minute. You do not tell me what to do, Lola, what's your problem, you have never spoken to me like that before. What's wrong?”

“Nothing, forget it. I'm just tired now. Can we head back?” I sighed as I calmly said. Fine. I'll take the day off tomorrow, we'll find a park and we will run there, just you and me. Okay, no one else will be there with us. It will just be me and you, girl.” she nodded as she looked at Xanders wolf. It seemed she was pissed at him. And what did Xander have to tell me? We headed off to home she ran ahead, trying to get here so before he did. We got to the tree where I left my clothes, I got dressed then waited on Xander. He appeared, then got dressed. I couldn't help but think about what Lola had said. Don't ask her. Ask his human why she was so pissed at him. That's what she said. When Xander came and put his arms around me. I felt safe. It's been two days since he last touched me, so I had to ask him why. I turned to face him while I was still in his arms.

“Care to tell me why you haven't spoken to me or even touched me in the last few days? Did I do something wrong? He sighed as he let go of me. I instantly felt alone when he stepped away from me,

I'm sorry, Lee, I've just had a lot on my mind. And a lot of work to do. It's nothing against you, I promise. I just let a lot of work go since you been here and I had to catch up with things, not to mention I'll be gone for a few days, it's a meeting I have to attend, but I promise after the meeting is over I will be right home. And then when I get home, we will talk, okay? There's so much I need to tell you.” He made me start thinking about what he had to tell me that he couldn't tell me right now. So I asked him.

“What can't you tell me what you can't just tell me now.” He didn't look at me. When he said

“It's not that easy Lee, when I get back, we will talk, okay? I'm only packed for a few days. If I have to stay longer I will call you and tell you so you won't worry. But I need to get going, Amanda will be here to keep you company okay, wait he was leaving tonight. Not even a kiss goodbye? Not a kiss, m ass see you later. He just said he wwoulde back he was leaving tonight. What the h3ll, I ran after him, jerking him around to make him look at me.

“So you're just going to leave just like that. Not a kiss, myass. See youlater. Not even a kiss by. Byeat the h3ll is going on Xander?” e sighed and pulled me close, kissing me softly.

“I'm sorry, I'm not used to having a mate. I'm used to just going. Forgive me, my queen.” He said the last part with so much affection that it made my legs weak.

“I'll see you in a few days. If I have to stay longer, I'll call you o, okay? kissed me again to give a show to everyone that was watching. ThaThenwalked back to the castle. He got into the car, and he was gone. I don't know what he was hiding from me, b I'm going to find out. I don't like this secret s**t, I warned him. I guess he didn't take it seriously,

“Don't worry, Lee, he’ll be back. It might take more than a few days. But he will be back.” I jumped when I heard Amanda's voice. Where the heck did she come from?

“,I know he will. But it doesn't matter now, does it. He's keeping something from me, and I don't like it.” She wouldn't look at me when I said that. She made an excuse.

“Listen, I need to get home. But I'll be here by tomorrow so we can hang out okay,” I nodded at her and said," See you late o, now she knows what's going on I. n tell, I walked into the house. And I just could not help it. I walked right into his office and locked the door, I sat there in his office. Looking around, f**k it. I

He's going to be gone for two days. I'm going to find what he's hiding, I started looking at his desk. All I found was paperwork, wads of money that had my name on it. And liquor. With a glass. f**k it I'll have a drink and that's what I did. I had a few drinks. I walked over to the wall and clicked on the space that he did. The wall opened up.. There was our contract with other items. What the f**k is this., I pulled it out. It was a letter.

I pulled it out and started to read it. It was to me,

“I knew you would go looking around. I don't mind, there is nothing I'm hiding. We will talk when I get back, I promise. Take the cash and go shopping. And Lee, I'm not rejecting you if that's what you think.

I wasn't even thinking that. That was the furthest from my mind. I took the cash and than shut the wall back up. So he knew I would snoop around. How cute. But that won't stop me. I want to know what's going on. I went into our room and sat there. Something occurred me,

“Lola, do you know something that you should tell me?” She didn't say anything. She was curled up in my head sleeping, or acting like she was sleeping.

“Lola, I know you're not sleeping. What the f**k do you know that I need to know “

“Lee, I can't tell you. I promised I wouldn't but he will tell you when he gets home. If he doesn't then I will tell you. I promise,”

I couldn't believe it. My own wolf wouldn't tell me what was going on. I don't like it one bit. Not one bit. I spent half the night in the hallways pushing items to see what would open up. There was nothing, not a thing that opened up. I walked toward a room that looked like a game room, so I walked inside and took a look around. How come I didn't know about this room? I decided I would do the same thing I did in the hallway. i saw something in the corner of my eye like someone was watching me, when i looked to see who or what it was, they were gone, i really didnt care who was watching me right now, if they have something to say then say it or shut the f**k up, i walked over to some doors that looked like a cloest or some sorts but when i opened them there was nothing, just a wall, i wondered how many people opened this thing and thought something was inside, but i started wondering, what could be inside, i looked at the wall closely i leaned into it with my right hand on the wall, i pushed something that went inside, the wall moved to the side, i shurgged going inside the door closed, this could be fun, or it could be dangrous, lets see how this goes
