I PULL UP TO THE FRONT entrance of the Myer Mansion. Helen and Brian Dohrmann are already there, standing by a car I take to be his. Unlike Helen’s rather sensible sedan, Dohrmann’s is a burgundy Dodge Charger, complete with a racing stripe down the side. “Mid-life crisis,” I mutter under my breath. Out of jealousy, to be honest. It is one fantastic car. You’re not just jealous of the car, are you? the lover says. You’re jealous because of HER. You have no reason to be jealous of either, the priest says. While the priest and the lover begin to argue—again—I pull in behind the Charger. Dohrmann turns to Helen when he sees me and says something to her. He doesn’t look pleased.
