Thirteen I STAND WITH REBECCA Myer at the front of the church. She’s looking around with slight wonder at the vaulted ceiling, the carved traditional marble altar holding the tabernacle behind the modern altar, six candles and a crucifix arranged along the front edge facing the congregation. To the left, a statue of the Virgin Mary; to the right, one of Saint Joseph holding the child Jesusa,; each statue with red votive candles flickering in the dim light. Stained glass windows down either side of the church cast a kaleidoscope of color, each window a scene from Jesus’s life except for the one closest to the entrance to the sanctuary.
