The Alpha moved swiftly through the dense forest, his presence a solid wall of protection beside me. My hands clutched at my coat, and my mind replayed the encounter with the shadowy figure over and over. Who were they? Why did they want me? And why, in the middle of my fear, did my heart beat faster whenever I was near him?
Every instinct screamed at me to run, to hide, to escape the tension that had become unbearable. But I couldn’t. Not with him there. Not when every glance, every movement, every whispered warning sent electricity through me.
We reached a small clearing, a hidden part of the forest I had never noticed before. The Alpha stopped, turning to face me, his eyes unreadable yet intense. “Y/n… there’s something you need to know,” he said, his voice low, almost a growl. “Something about your past. About why they want you.”
My stomach twisted. “What do you mean?” I whispered, my voice trembling.
He hesitated, his jaw tightening. “You were born into this world for a reason… a world most humans will never understand. Your blood… it’s different. Powerful. Dangerous. And some… some would do anything to claim it.”
I blinked, my mind spinning. “Me? But I’m… normal. I’m just me.”
He shook his head slowly. “You’re far from normal, Y/n. Your parents… they tried to hide it. To keep you safe. But the moment you came of age, the moment your powers began to awaken… you became a target.”
Fear gripped me, cold and sharp. “Powers? What powers?”
“The ones that make you… special. The ones that some would kill to control. That figure in the forest? They’re just the beginning.”
I shivered, my mind racing. Every heartbeat sounded like a drum, echoing in the quiet forest. I wanted to cry, to scream, to run. But I stayed rooted, trapped in the Alpha’s gaze, feeling the strange pull of desire and fear intertwining.
He took a step closer. “I’ve protected you this long, Y/n. But protecting you… it’s not just about keeping you safe from them. It’s also about keeping you from yourself.”
I frowned. “From myself?”
“Yes,” he said, his voice low, vibrating in my chest. “Your power isn’t fully under control yet. And if it awakens in the wrong way… it could destroy everything. People, places… even me.”
I felt a chill, a mixture of awe and terror. “And you… you’re not afraid of me?”
He hesitated, and for the briefest moment, I saw vulnerability there—a c***k in the Alpha’s otherwise unyielding armor. “I am,” he admitted softly. “But I’m more afraid of losing you. More afraid of letting you face this alone.”
My chest tightened. I wanted to speak, but words failed me. Instead, I nodded, my fingers brushing against his hand. Sparks shot through me at the contact, and I realized, with a mixture of shame and thrill, that I had never felt anything like this before.
A sudden rustle in the bushes snapped us both to attention. The shadowy figure had returned, faster and more dangerous than before. My heart raced, and I instinctively pressed against the Alpha, feeling the raw power radiating from him.
“You’re going to have to trust me,” he said, his voice barely above a whisper. “No matter what happens, don’t run. Not yet.”
I nodded, gripping his coat tightly as the figure emerged from the shadows, eyes glowing with malice. The Alpha stepped forward, ready to strike. But this time, something was different.
The figure didn’t attack immediately. Instead, they spoke, their voice smooth and dangerous. “You can protect her all you want, Alpha. But she belongs to me. And you… you can’t stop what’s coming.”
The Alpha’s teeth clenched, his eyes narrowing. “You’ll regret underestimating me,” he growled.
The figure smirked, and in a blur of motion, vanished once again into the forest. I exhaled shakily, my body trembling. “Who… what are they?” I asked.
The Alpha’s gaze softened as he looked at me. “They’re the first of many obstacles. And the closer you get to the truth about your past… the more dangerous things will become.”
I swallowed hard, fear and excitement warring in my chest. I wanted to ask more, to understand, but the moment was already over. All that remained was the sense that my life had changed forever—and that nothing would ever be the same again.
