chapter 7: audacity

[Alex’s pov]

Slowly I opened my eyes and found myself in a room I've never been in before; my eyes widened, this is the biggest bedroom I've ever seen! The walls were a dark gray, with paintings of different landscapes hanging on the walls. The floor was black and red marble. There were three different doors, one on the same wall as the bed, one across the room, and one on the wall to the right. Speaking of bed, it looks to be king size, the sheets a black silk, and next to me laid…Jase? Wait a minute, why am I here? I tried to move and pain shot up my side; grunting through the pain, I sat up and looked down to see I was shirtless, with a giant stitched up cut going down my right side.

The bed moved as Jase sat up “Princess, please lay back down you’re gonna pop your stitches open” I looked over at him as he propped himself up on the head board.

I shook my head “Jase, why am I here? Last thing I remember was leaving my house to get some fresh air.” He scooted closer to me. Wow, he even towers over me while sitting.

“I found you in the middle of the woods getting attacked by a group of rogues. I'm so sorry I didn't get there in time to stop them from hurting you. Right now we're at my castle. I have a live-in doctor that I had to take care of your wound...you would've died if I didn't get there when I did” he grabbed my hand bringing it to his lips “I refused to lose you before I could even have you”. I blushed at his words.

He’s so caring towards me, he couldn't be the vampire Gram was speaking of. ”What's your last name?” he looked me in my eyes and my body stiffened when he said “Fain”.

“You- you’re Jase Fain? The ruthless murderer? Please don't hurt me” I begged, my eyes starting to tear up “please my brother and my Gram need me, please don't kill me!”

The look of shock on his face is one I'd never forget. “Alexandria, I know what I am, but I promise you I will never cause you or your family harm. I would never do anything to hurt you.” There was something about the way he said it, I couldn’t help but believe him. “Now, are you going to tell me why you were in the woods in the middle of the night?” he asked, brows furrowed.

“I- I found out what I am, who I am, and I guess my best friend’s a witch, my brother’s pissed at me because I didn't tell him about what happened last night when he couldn't find me” I sighed and continued “I guess I'm a werewolf, and an extremely powerful one at that. But I don't understand how I could be if I was so defenseless against the ones who attacked me.”

He stared at me for a moment “You're not defenseless. You were in a weak state of mind after learning everything you did. You my dear, have never been trained to fight have you?” I shook my head “I will change that. As soon as you're completely healed. You will never have to worry again my love, I will keep you safe always”.

I couldn't stop myself from reaching for his face and kissing him deeply. Fighting for dominance, I bit his lip and he groaned. He quickly pulled away and I frowned “What's wrong? Did I mess up?”

“You are absolutely perfect, Princess. I just don't wanna lose control while you're injured. We should get you home before your family starts to freak out, okay?” I nodded and started to stand up when he stopped me “You will not be walking, it’ll be faster if you let me carry you”.

I nodded again and he picked me up bridal style. I nuzzled into his neck and took a deep breath in; god he smells like heaven. “Do you trust me?” he asks.

“Yes” I replied, he smiled genuinely, his perfect lips against his perfect teeth.

“Good, now hold on to me” and I did as he said, looping my arms around his neck as he took off.

[Bay’s pov]

I’m sitting on the porch with Sarah, in the same spot we’ve been for nearly an hour “That's it, I'm going out looking for her. You can come or don't, I don't care”. I stated as I stood up, she was looking off in the distance when she said “Um, I don't think that will be necessary”

My head snapped in the direction she’s looking and I saw a tall man carrying my sister. I start heading towards them “What the hell happened Alex, where were you? Who the f**k is this?” I was furious and relieved. She disappeared all night to be with a guy?

“Watch who you’re talking to like that. Not everyone will ignore it like I am” stated the man, with zero facial expressions as he walked right past me to the porch.

“Oh my god what happened to you? Are you alright? Who is this? We were so worried about you!” states Sarah running up to her and the man as he sets her on her own two feet.

“I got attacked on my walk, Jase saved me and took care of me until I woke up”.

Sarah's eyes widened and she squealed a little “So this is the mysterious Jase huh? Thank you so much for being there when you were” she hugged Alex gently.

I cut him off before he could respond “Firstly, why the hell is my sister shirtless outside? Sarah please go grab her something to wear. Secondly, Alex, this is really important. Were you attacked in the woods by three wolves?” her eyes widen as Sarah runs in and comes back out quickly with a shirt. Alex quickly puts it on.

“How? How did you know that?” she sounded a bit freaked out and I don't blame her. So am I.

My body stiffened. I can’t believe it was real. “I dreamt it”.
