[Alex’s pov]
“RUN ANDRIA! DON'T TURN AROUND!” Screamed a tall man, his piercing eyes never leaving the retreating figure of a woman. He fought off several wolves, distracting them as she made her escape.
The woman ran, clutching onto two bundles of blankets with black hair sprouting out the top. Her long, black hair flicked around as the wind blew past her, a single tear shedding from her bright blue eyes.
BEEP!BEEP!BEEP!
My alarm clock blared, startling me out of my sleep. Letting out a loud groan, I rolled over and shut it off. I’ve had that same dream every night this week, everytime waking up before finding out where the woman goes. Today’s the last day of senior year, which means no more dream interruptions. I smile to myself as I get out of bed and head to the bathroom for a shower.
As I undress I can't help but feel excited for today. Getting in, immediately I feel all the tension melt away as the hot water cascades down my body. The dream slowly made its way into the front of my mind. Why do I dream about people I've never seen before? Shaking off the thought, I quickly wash my hair and body.
Getting out of the shower, I wrap a large towel around myself and head towards my room. I ended up choosing a pair of black ripped jeans and an orange V-neck tee, with a black and grey flannel tied around my waist. I wear my favorite pair of all black, low cut converse; yes they're a little worn out but I can't afford a new pair and they still do their job just fine.
Sitting in front of my body length mirror, I do a quick natural look with some winged eyeliner and mascara, making my green eyes pop. Quickly, I style my long black hair into a messy bun on top of my head with a few strands left out, framing my face.
I study myself in the mirror for a minute and decide I'm ready. My brother and I live with our Gram in a simple cabin, right on the outskirts of a small human town. Cloverdale has a small population, I’d say roughly 400 people live here? I'm not quite sure though. We’re human too, but with all the different magical creatures in the world I thought I should clarify.
Our cabin consists of three small bedrooms, one small bathroom with just enough room for one person (or in some cases, two little twins hiding after stealing the baked goods Gram made), there is a small living room with one couch and Gram’s rocking chair; we don’t own any tv’s for some odd reason, Gram is against them. And then there's the kitchen.
As I open my bedroom door I’m hit with my favorite scent in the world, freshly baked cinnamon rolls! I follow my nose through the living room and see Gram putting the glaze on top of them. I'm practically drooling over them. “ Gram, these look delicious” leaning on the counter as I reach for one, she smacks my hand away. Rude.
Gram isn't particularly old, she just turned 50 last month. She's a few inches taller than I am, standing at 5’6 while I'm only 5’4; she has long silver hair, and big brown doe eyes, not to mention she's kept herself in perfect shape over the years. At first glance you'd think she was in her thirties.
“Now child, these just came out! Are you trying to burn yourself?! Go find your brother.” she scolds me as she moves the rolls to the table.
“I’ll see if he’s in his room '' Getting up, I head towards the bedrooms and knock on the door right next to mine. No answer. Alright, let's pray to God and whoever else is up there that my brother doesn't sleep in the nude.
Slowly opening the door, I take a peek, sighing in relief. He's sitting on his bed fully dressed, on his phone. My brother isn't particularly unattractive, not my type for obvious reasons. Quite the opposite really, he's got short, curly black hair on the top of his head, bright blue eyes, and a perfect smile followed by a sharp jawline. When he stands, he's a whopping 6’8, he's over a foot taller than me. When you first look at us you wouldn't guess twins, but we are.
“Hey, are you almost ready? Gram is waiting in the kitchen for us, she made cinnamon rolls!” I said that last part while wiggling my eyebrows with a little smirk. “And we’ve got to go soon if we don’t want to keep Sarah waiting.”
He lets out a little chuckle and looks at me. Giving a cheesy smile as he stood up and walked to the kitchen with me. My brother has been in love with my best friend Sarah for years, practically since we all met in kindergarten. Sarah is shorter than me by four inches, with straight brown hair, and hazel eyes. She's absolutely beautiful with a down to earth personality, she knows my brother has feelings for her, she doesn't feel the same. She’s more interested in random hookups than something serious.
“Morning Gram,” he walked over to give her a kiss on the cheek and grabbed a cinnamon bun. I followed behind doing the same, we both sat at the table with Gram to eat them. “Are you both excited for today?” she asked before taking a sip of her coffee and setting it back down.
“Of Course! I can’t wait until I can sleep in everyday!” I cheered, earning a laugh from both of them. “Alright Alex, you ready? As you said, we can’t leave Sarah waiting for too long.” Bay said, standing up and heading to the door. I gave Gram a kiss on the cheek and followed him out of the cabin, always so eager to see her. I chuckle to myself. I yelled behind me as we walked out the door “Love you! We’ll see you later!”
“ I love you too, stay safe and stay out of the woods!” She called after us. After catching up with Bay, we took off. Racing each other through town, towards Sarah’s house.
