chapter 20: New Developments

1483 Words
One week later [Lucas’ pov]     My father has had me watch the cabin where they live everyday this week, but I haven't seen any movement. I haven’t told him about my talk with the twins and I'm not planning to. I like the fire in Alexandria's eyes. Those two don't deserve to die because of who they are. My father made himself their enemy.      I'm currently in my fathers office waiting for him to get off the phone. He hangs up and looks at me. “Anything new?”     I shook my head “I don't think they’re there anymore. No movement at all this week and their scents have faded completely. I went inside and most of their belongings, except for furniture, were gone.” He looked to be in thought for a minute before responding.      “Jase must’ve told them we knew where they were. He more than likely moved them into his home. I will have you watch there instead, once you come back and confirm their location we will attack. Full force.” I nodded.     “I will leave in the morning then. I need to get some rest and some food.” He nodded in response and I headed to my room. Conversations with my father have always been business only. The only time he’s proud of me is when I'm doing his bidding exactly how he wants it and I'm tired of it. Two teenagers my age do not deserve to die just because of his actions that made him their enemy. At this moment, I've decided that I won't be helping my father. He’s wrong in so many ways. And he will know it.   [Sarah’s pov]     It’s been a week since the last time Bay tried to get ahold of me. Even longer since the last time I saw either of them. I wish it didn't have to be this way. I miss them so much it’s crazy. My mom and grandma gave me all the books they have on the family curse, which consisted of a few journals from ancestors. So far I haven't gotten too much except that another witch was angry with one of my ancestors for something they did and cast the curse out of spite and anger. Nothing about names yet, and I can't reverse anything without names.      I sigh, and get off of my bed where I was reading the journals, and head over to my vanity where several pictures of Alex, Bay and I over the years hang. I wish I could get this all figured out soon.  [Jase pov]     Everyday Cam and I have trained them for a few hours in each form. Right after, Cam takes them to the library and they read things about our world, and Cam teaches them things as they go. I must say I'm extremely proud of their progress. They’ve only been training altogether for about two weeks and are working on things now that it takes most were’s years to master.      We just finished dinner, Cam and Bay went back to the library so Cam can teach him “Alpha things” as he put it when Alex tried to ask. Gram went back to her room. Which just left us, we’re currently heading to my spot behind the house.      “Jase, I want to thank you for everything you’ve been doing for me and my family. I appreciate it more than you’ll ever know.“ she whispered as we walked hand in hand.      “Princess, it’s my job as your mate, and the man that loves you to make sure that you and yours are safe, especially when I have the money and power to do so, at least until you can yourself.” I responded truthfully. She smiles and turns her head away.     After walking in a comfortable silence for a little longer we reach the spot and i take a seat on the fallen tree and she sits next to me leaning onto me. I wrap my arms around her as she nuzzles into me.      “I'm so glad I met you” she whispered to me.     “Me too princess. I lo-” i got cut off by a familiar voice.     “I hate to break up such a sweet moment but Alex I need to talk to you” I look up and standing in front of me is Lucian's pathetic excuse for a son. Alex stands up quickly as a run up and pin him to a tree.     “What do you want, Lucas.” I spit at him. “This can only mean trouble. He's his fathers little minion. Does everything the man says.”     “I’m not your enemy Jase, just back off for a second and i’ll explain” he choked out, causing me to press into him harder.      “BULLSH-” Alex put her hand on my arm, instantly calming me down.  I looked at her and she looked at me with reassuring eyes.      “It’s okay, let him speak. What harm could he do by saying words?” she giggled out with a small voice and i instantly dropped him and put my arms around her.      “You’re lucky she’s here right now or you’d be dead right now.” I shot him a piercing glare. He slowly stood up after losing his balance when I let go.      “No hard feelings. But I think you should know that my father knows she’s here. I held off as long as I could in telling him you guys weren't at your cabin anymore. He knew Jase had to have moved you here. It’s only a matter of time now before he makes his move.” he said looking directly at my mate in a way i didn’t like. I make a mental note to snap his neck if he ever touches her.      “Why are you telling me this? You do realize that I'm going to kill you father right? You do understand that were on opposite sides here, your not stupid are you?” Alex asked nonchalantly as I fought back the urge to laugh. She’s so blunt at times. Looking over at Lucas I noticed he cracked a smile that definitely reached his eyes. I might be reading too much into this but I think he wants me to knock his teeth out real fast.      “It might be hard to believe, darlin, but I don’t agree with what my father is doing or has done. He doesn’t treat me as a son and never has. If he can kill people my age with no remorse, just because of who they are then I want no part in it. Consider me your inside man for the time being.” Lucas said, still staring at MY mate. I speak up to get his attention away from her.     “How do I know anything you say is true? That you're not just doing this for him to get close to the twins? I won’t hesitate to snap your little neck before you even have a chance to know what hit you, if that happens to be the case. Lucian is fighting a losing battle. The only reason he had a fighting chance last time was because he had me by his side with my coven.”     “He made himself their enemy. I haven’t. Alex, did I give you any reason not to trust me last week? I never told my father I spoke with you. I even told you he knew where you were.” he looked at her again with an intensity in his eyes that i didn’t like.      “Look at my mate like that again and I won't be able to stop myself from killing you.” I spit out at him and he quickly looked away.     “We’ll give you a chance. You're right you haven’t given us a reason not to trust you, but if you do it won’t be Jase you have to worry about, it’ll be me. Swap numbers with him, we’ll be in contact.” he nodded and handed me his phone to put my number in, I handed it back to him as  Alex grabbed onto my hand and started to pull me back to the house. I gladly walk next to her with a smile on my face.      “That’s it?” Lucas says behind us. Alex stops and looks over her shoulder “what else were you expecting? We were having some much needed alone time, you interrupted, now we’re going to continue, but in our bedroom where we can’t be interrupted.” she shrugged and started walking again.       I had no idea she was going to say anything like that. I just smile quietly knowing she has eyes only for me even when others have eyes for her.
