Morning sunlight spilled through Naledi’s bedroom window, painting soft golden lines across her desk. The letter from the university program still lay there, exactly where she had placed it the night before. She had barely slept. Every time she closed her eyes, her mind filled with questions. What if she failed? What if she succeeded? What if everything changed? Naledi sat up slowly and picked up the letter again. The words seemed heavier today, as if they carried the weight of an entire future. A knock sounded at the door. “Naledi?” her mother’s voice called gently. “Breakfast is ready.” “I’m coming,” she replied. At the table, the smell of toast and tea filled the small kitchen. Her mother noticed the letter in Naledi’s hand immediately. “You’re still thinking about it,” she said
