"What's going on here?" Grandma Liana, a stern yet observant woman, came through the door. Her piercing eyes scanned the scene before her, capturing the tension in the air.
"Answer me, girl! Who is this man?"
Emily's face flushed with embarrassment as she struggled to compose herself.
"Grandmother, this is Xander," She admitted. He's a colleague of mine.
"And what is he doing here!?"
He just came to congratulate me, Grandma, he was just leaving.
Liana's expression hardened as she turned her gaze toward Xander. Disapproval was etched into every line on her face.
"Nice to meet you, Mrs. Blackwood," Xander mumbled nervously, and fled the scene.
"Shameful," she muttered, shaking her head. "Liam has made a terrible mistake." She added while leaving the room.
Liam never imagined the day would come when he'd be marrying Emily. He had harbored feelings towards her ever since they were kids.
He was just 9 years old when his parents passed away, and he ran away from home alone to his favorite amusement park. A six-year-old girl had found him sobbing and she offered him her last piece of chocolate so he would stop crying. As young as he was, he found her silly but couldn't help but feel at ease in her presence.
He caught sight of her a couple of times after that day and discovered her name was Emily Stone. Years later, when he was around 20 years old and had fully taken over his parent's company, he found her again walking home from school with her friends. He then grew more curious about her.
He watched her from afar and learned everything he could about her, including her relationships. He was so elated when he discovered the situation in his Uncle's company and thought it was a perfect opportunity to finally make her his.
He was glad when her Uncle, James Stone, contacted him. He offered to help in exchange for her hand in marriage. Mr. Stone had suggested his own daughter but he declined and demanded Emily's instead.
The day was his wedding and he had positioned his men at every corner of the building. He didn't want anything to go wrong. He was sitting at the altar and waiting for his bride to be announced when his grandmother suddenly informed him that she had caught Emily with a man in her dressing room.
He instantly deciphered that it was Xander, her ex-fiance. He had caught sight of him as he exited the hall to leave the building. His blood started to boil and his jaw twitched. His once cheerful countenance was masked by a deadly one. He had warned her to put an end to any previous relationship. But no, she had to defy him.
What he hated the most were cheats and lies. He was going to make sure the bastard never showed up in her life again.
Emily walked slowly and carefully through the corridors. The ceremony had ended and she was now at Blackwood's mansion officially as Mrs. Blackwood.
She sauntered downwards into their bedroom slowly, unfamiliar with the space. She was hit by Liam's familiar scent and it was quite soothing to her surprise. In the middle of the room sto9od a king-sized bed, enough to accommodate four bodies of her size. It had four silk pillows symmetrically arranged, with a comforter neatly draped on it.
An enormous painting of a waterfall hung behind the bed and she couldn't be more awestrikened by its beauty. A fine black leather couch was carefully positioned across the bed and she could tell he had a refined taste.
The LED lights also illuminated the cotton-white walls perfectly. She noticed a corridor and walked further in to discover a huge walk-in closet and her mouth hung open in disbelief. The closet was ample enough to fit three people at the same time. There were huge wardrobes with numerous compartments.
She then sat on the bed staring into space. It was her wedding night but she wasn't anticipating the events that took place on wedding nights. She knew better than to wait on her dear husband. It was an arranged marriage after all.
She imagined if Liam would touch her, as he had insinuated that he would on the day of their first meeting. She tried to shake the thought off of her mind. He doesn't even acknowledge her as a woman, let alone have anything intimate to do with her. She was just a trophy wife.
But on the other hand, who knows? He might just decide to punish her by r****g her. After all, she's now his wife. The thought made her shudder in disgust. She wasn't going to give her first time to someone who had no romantic feelings towards her. She wanted her first moment to be special. She stood up and decided to check out the rest of the room. But just as she was about to move, the door jarred open and she had no choice but to stay put.
Liam walked into the room in all his tall and sexy glory. He was on the phone laughing with whomever he was talking to, but the minute he set his eyes on her, a scowl spread across his face. He concluded his call and continued inside, disregarding her.
He stood in front of the dressing mirror, took off his jacket, and discarded it. He unbuttoned the upper buttons of his white shirt and it revealed his well-toned muscular chest, which gave away the impression that he had worked out a lot. He looked into the mirror and saw the reflection of Emily staring and standing awkwardly behind him. He then turned around with a cold arrogant smirk on his face.
"Like what you see?" He asked in a cold sarcastic manner, and she stood still flushing in embarrassment.
He chuckled seductively, moving slowly toward her in an intimidating stride. He was now standing so close to her, that his cologne filled up her nose. He then raised his thumb to her lips, caressing them softly.
"I can see you do," he said huskily. He brought his lips close to the crook of her neck, teasing the area with them, and it made shivers travel down her spine. She immediately hated herself for being affected by the touch of a stranger. A stranger that happened to be her husband. He pulled back and stared at her for a while, with a kind of expression she couldn't read, then suddenly his eyes swarmed with disdain.
He placed his right hand on her back and pulled her closer to him with force, and her body collided with his harshly. She winced in pain from the vigorous contact. He cupped her cheeks painfully, bringing her face to look directly at him, and tears welled up in her eyes.
"You weren't expecting a hot love-making session between us tonight were you?" He hissed close to her earlobe.
"I haven't even touched you yet and your body is already responding."
"If you thought we were going to have a romantic little wedding night, then think again." "I'll never be enticed by you." He spat and shoved her away from him like she was a plague.
She jerked back from the force and caught herself just in time before colliding with the hard floor. She was taken aback by his sudden harsh behavior. Yes, he wasn't nice to her from the start, but she never predicted it to be this bad.
His face hardened once again. "The only reason I agreed to this marriage was to solidify my authority in the company, so don't ever think for one moment that this marriage would be a proper one, or expect me to fulfill any husbandly obligations."
"To me, you're just a housemate and we're only married on paper." I will never see you as my wife!"
"You can have the room to yourself! I'll be in the next room." He ultimately added and vacated the room, slamming the door behind him. His words pierced through her like a sharp blade, but she wasn't going to let him see her hurt.
