Nyx was walking fast but carefully through the woods, eager to get home. She knows that Elaine will throw away her acceptance letters to trap her into lifelong servitude.
She couldn’t let that happen. She is determined to leave that house and life, and she will not let anyone stop her from achieving her dreams. But then a wave of dizziness hit her, making her lose balance. She stopped walking and held onto a tree, steadying herself as she cleared her head.
She cursed under her breath, annoyed that, of all times, she felt dizzy when she was in a hurry. She has been feeling that way for a few days already, and she is really wondering what is wrong with her. She doesn’t feel sick, but the dizziness and feeling queasy are really making it hard for her.
Nyx then took a deep breath and straightened her back as soon as she got a hold of herself. She told herself to endure it as she needed to get back home as soon as possible. She was about to take a step when she heard incoming footsteps.
Nyx turned around and saw Edward approaching her.
“What are you doing here?” Nyx asked.
“I could ask the same thing. Why are you here when the party is over there?” Edward responded, pointing in the direction of his house.
“I never wanted to go; my friends just dragged me there,” she replied.
Edward smiled at her, but there was something in his smile that made Nyx’s skin crawl.
“Either way, come back with me to the party so we can have fun. " Let's get to know each other,” he said.
Nyx narrowed her eyes at him.
“Why are you doing this? Did you run out of girls who threw themselves on your feet that you think picking on me is fun?”
Nyx sneered, getting annoyed by Edward.
In response to what she said, Edward snorted.
“I am not picking on you. I am simply trying to spend time with you, and maybe you’d fall for me,” he said.
Nyx rolled her eyes.
“I am not interested. I need to go,” Nyx told him, and was about to leave when Edward grabbed her arm, stopping her from going.
“What are you doing? Let me go,” Nyx hissed, but Edward just pulled her closer to him.
“Stay. Have fun with me,” he said.
Nyx turned to him.
“Are you deaf? I said I need to go,” she spat.
Edward smirked at her; his eyes were filled with mischief, raising alarm bells in Nyx’s head.
“You must be feeling the effects of the drug now.”
Edward said, and Nyx furrowed her eyebrows.
“What are you talking about?” she asked.
Edward smirked before answering.
“The drink I gave you, I kind of laced it with something.”
Nyx frowned as she remembered Edward had insisted on taking the drink earlier – it was drugged! She was relieved that she didn’t drink it, but he seemed to be convinced that she did because she was feeling dizzy.
Nyx clenched her teeth and pulled her arm from his grip.
“Get the bloody hell away from me or else I will scream,” she warned him, but Edward looked even more amused.
“The way loud the music was blaring, I doubt anyone will hear you scream,” he said.
Nyx tried to leave, but then he grabbed Nyx’s arms and slammed her back against the tree.
At that moment, Nyx feared that Edward would do something to her.
“What are you doing? Let me go!” she exclaimed, but Edward ignored her and pressed himself against her body, and his face moved closer, sniffing Nyx’s hair.
“You caught my attention years ago, but you never spare me a glance. You just made me want you more, and now, I will make you mine and make sure no one else will want you,” Edward spoke against her hair.
Nyx’s eyes widened as fear engulfed her. She tried to push Edward off her, but he won't budge and just keeps kissing her neck.
“Stop! Let me go!” she screamed, but Edward continued doing what he was doing, ignoring her screams.
Edward’s hand took Nyx’s wrists and placed them above her head as his other hand started touching her arm, her chest, and then he cupped her breast. Nyx was crying, still pleading for Edward to stop, but the latter seemed to have enjoyed hearing her pleas.
Nyx felt powerless at that moment, and she felt like it was the end of her as Edward looked like he had no intention of stopping or letting her go. Nyx also felt frustrated, angry, and even that she was weak. She despised that she couldn’t protect herself or stand up against people who walked over her.
Her frustrations, fears, and anger that she bottled up inside are starting to overflow, triggered by her current situation. Her inside is like a pressure cooker that is close to exploding.
Nyx closed her eyes, trying to calm herself as she needed to be clear-headed in that situation. Then she found the right moment to fight back; she opened her eyes, and the moment Edward tried to kiss her lips, with all her might, Nyx slammed her head against his. A cracking sound was heard, and blood poured out of Edward’s nose.
Edward groaned in pain as he let go of her wrists and cradled his broken nose. Nyx took that moment to escape, but she had just gotten two steps when Edward grabbed her arm and pulled her back. He turned her towards him, and then he forcefully punched her in the stomach.
Nyx gasped as pain erupted in her stomach, making her knees weak. She dropped to the ground, her arms around her stomach. She cried, pulling her knees close to her stomach.
Edward wiped the blood off his face, and then he glared at Nyx.
“You b***h. You just have to make everything hard,” he spat, and started kicking Nyx as she writhed in pain on the ground.
The pain Nyx was feeling at that moment was too much for her, and darkness soon engulfed her. When Edward noticed that she had passed out, he smirked and started unbuckling his belt.
“You should have just let it happen. Why do you have to fight me and hurt yourself?”
Edward spoke, and then he snickered triumphantly. He walked closer to Nyx and went down on his knees.
“Now, you are mine,” he mumbled as he positioned himself between Nyx’s legs. He was about to unbutton her pants when he suddenly froze.
***************************.
At that very same moment in Naples, Ivan was clutching his abdomen. He suddenly felt a sharp, blunt pain that he didn’t know where it came from. He was out for a walk after explaining everything to his new fledgling.
‘What the hell was that?’
Ivan thought as he stood in the middle of the busy street.
‘Casper, do you have any idea?’ he asked his Lycan.
His Lycan was quiet for a few seconds.
‘I feel like it was not an attack directed at us, but at our mate,’ Casper replied.
Ivan’s eyes widened, and his mind took him back to the night when he met his mate.
‘Our mate? Are you sure?’ he asked.
‘I am not really sure. Since we didn’t get to mark our mate, our connection with her is not complete, but still, her pain is our pain.’
Casper told him, and at that moment, Ivan was filled with fear for his mate’s safety. He then cursed inwardly as he couldn’t do anything for his mate. He didn’t know where she was, not even her name.
‘Casper, what should we do? She could be in danger!’ he asked his Lycan.
‘I wish I had an answer to your question. But since we have no other information about her, just her face and her scent, we cannot find her using the means we have. I don’t think even witch’s magic is enough to find her.’
Casper’s answer just made Ivan more frustrated.
