POV: Yessica | Location: Edinburgh
She found her father's number before she'd consciously decided to dial it.
Theron Lockwood. Edinburgh mobile. The number she'd given him when she first arrived — the number she'd updated him with because she'd wanted one person in her family to know she was safe.
One person.
She pressed call.
It rang four times. Long enough that she thought he wouldn't answer.
"Yessica." His voice was careful. Already careful. "It's late."
"I know." She kept her voice even. "Are you in talks with Catherine Sterling's legal team?"
Silence.
"Rafferty Montague told me," she said. "The meeting is Friday. Two days from now."
More silence. The kind that confirmed everything.
"Dad."
"It's not what you think."
"Then tell me what it is."
She heard him exhale slowly.
