Huge tsunamis were coming. Esperanza was on her knees, holding firmly on the handrail of the deck. The sky was curtained with foreboding shadows, the breeze blew brutally, and large tsunamis continued to crash on their boat. The tempest was here and individuals inside the boat were appealing to God to save them. Esperanza looked at the furious ocean and to the seething nȧkėd lady remaining on the sea's surface with a conch shell on her hand. The nȧkėd lady had eyes of twirling dark blue sea. Her hair went to a great extent. Esperanza shut her eyes and recalled what occurred. Two hours prior… The boat she was leaving was still in Visayas and kept on cruising further toward the south, Mindanao. She expected to track down Jose Rizal there. Esperanza left Pepe on the deck. She was becoming weary of watching the immense, quiet and exhausting pleasant sea, she contemplated to him. As she went inside the boat, somewhere within her, she was getting restless. Days continued to pass by and her journey was not yet close to end. She ached to return home. She became burnt out on this lethargic excursion and expected that she probably won't achieve her journey. She's panicked to the way that 'Imagine a scenario in which Jose Rizal isn't in Mindanao'. It's just hypothesis that he is in Mindanao, and this stressed Esperanza. Finally, she expected that she probably won't track down the other clock. She recalled the time that previously had it, it was at that point close to her. Yet, she neglected to recover it. Her psyche returned to July 20, 1892, at Tondo, Manila. She recollected the man of his 20's wearing Barong Tagalog and a salakot (wide-overflowed cap) on his head and who had a very much managed mustache all over. How should she not notice the wristwatch on his wrist when he gave her food and coins? He was so near her yet she botched the chance. How sad of her! Presently, how is it that she could get an opportunity to see him assuming he was in Tondo, in Luzon when indeed she was currently heading towards south, to Mindanao? At the point when she opened it, an abnormal looking Pepe invited her with an absurd grin and an almost exhausted jug of wine on his hand. Esperanza stepped back in the wake of smelling his inebriated breath, "What on earth - - - - I mean, lasing ka ba?" (What on earth - - - - - - I mean, are you tanked) She reviled herself from posing the inept inquiry. Obviously, he was plastered. Pepe wobbled back and fro. Esperanza held his shoulder to consistent him. She peered toward the packaged wine, "Sino nagbigay sa'yo ng alak?" (Who gave you the wine?) "Ahhh ito ba?" Pepe said and checked out the container on his hand, "Isang maginoong estranghero ang nagbigay sa associated nitong masarap na… ..na… .na… ." Pepe squinted his eyes in attempting to peruse the name on the jug. "Umm… .na… .na… uhhh… .alak." (Ahh this? A man of honor gave me this flavorful… ..this… .this… .um… .this… .uh… .wine) He shook his head. She thought, 'Somebody gave him a wine? Why?' Esperanza inquired, "Bakit ka nandito?" (Why are you here?) The inebriated Pepe said, his face was red, "A… akala ko kuwarto… .ko. Sa palagay ko nagkamali akong kinatukan. Paumanhin." He checked out her with his senseless grin. Pepe began talking, "Alam mo… . Itong estranghero na ito… mayroon siyang napamaimis na misay. At… .mukha siyang galing sa marangyang pamilya dahil sa kanyang magarang kasuotan. Napakabait niya. Nagkita kami doon sa kubyerta at annoy usap patungkol sa mga bagay. Nagsalitan kami ng sarili naming pahayam patungkol sa nangyayari sa ating inang bayan. Alam mo...naalala ko siya dahil sa iyo." (You know… .this more bizarre… he has this very much managed mustache. And....he seems as though he came from a rich family. He's benevolent. We met in the deck and discussed stuff. We share our various perspectives concerning what's going on in our country. You know… he helps me to remember you) She took a gander at Pepe with grimaced eyebrows. A couple of more advances and they were practically on Pepe's lodge. Out of nowhere Esperanza heard strides from the finish of the hall behind them. At the point when she took a gander at her back, she attempted to make out immense builds of two figures strolling towards their bearing. The light on the hall continued to influence gradually and easily. Esperanza could make out blue garments, dark caps, and riffles. 'Oh goodness! Common watches once more,' Esperanza contemplated internally. She froze. She took a gander at Pepe, his eyes were mostly shutting. How would it be advisable for her to respond? For what reason were there still affable watchmen in the boat? She recollected after the self destruction occurrence occurred in the boat, the common watches at long last landed the boat. So what were they doing here? Is it true that they were hanging around for Pepe? Then, at that point, what would it be advisable for her to do in this sort of situation? How would it be a good idea for her to respond? Pepe 's head lolling on her side as he was nodding off. God help us! 10 additional means… 'They couldn't see Pepe right? I mean his back was confronting them,' she contemplated internally, alluding to the two common gatekeepers. 9 additional means… .. 'In any case, imagine a scenario in which they'll attempt to get him to see Pepe's face.' 7 additional means… . One of the guardia (common watchman) shouted to Pepe and Esperanza. Esperanza went ballistic. 'OMG!' In her terrified, she got Pepe's free arm and folded it over her shoulder. Without thinking, she drew her face towards him. Before she shut her eyes, she saw on her fringe view that the two cops were shocked. She sat tight for them to take action or perhaps to intrude on them. However, the two common watchmen hacked and cleared their throats. They mumbled something about shame and shamelessness lastly continued on. Esperanza heard the two thumped on the entryway of one the of the lodges. The two common gatekeepers got no reaction. In this way, she speculated, they were thumping on Pepe's lodge, they were really searching for him. The two common gatekeepers halted and left. She trusted that their means will disappear before she woke up. The two common watchmen were at long last away. She took a gander at Pepe and looked his bruised eyes wide opened. She shocked away from his arms and deflected her eyes. What had she done? She had no clue about what occurred. Everything was quick and she was in a desperate circumstance. What's more she did… . She did..Her lips arrived on… . Her lips… .. When she looked at Pepe, he was already laying on the floor, his eyes were shut. She drew next to him. She needed to get Pepe back to her room before the two civil guards come and get Pepe. Pepe should not go back to his room since it seemed like the two civil guards knew where he was staying. Pepe murmured something. She could not hear it clearly. She drew closer to him. She heard him whispered, "Agustin… Iyon pala ang pangalan ng maginoong estranghero." (Agustin….that's the name of the gentleman stranger) 'Agustin?' Esperanza asked to herself. Pepe continued, "Naalala kita sa kanya. Katulad mo…. Kakaiba din siya manalita." (He reminds me of you. Like you…. He speaks oddly) Esperanza was taken aback. Pepe opened his eyes and looked at Esperanza. "Mayroon din siya.... 'yong bagay na parating nasa braso mo." (He also have the same thing you always have on your arm) Pepe stretched out his hand and touched the wristwatch of hers. Esperanza looked at Pepe with wide eyes. The man who had the other clock was here. Thirty minutes later…. Big tidal waves were coming. Esperanza was on her knees, holding tightly on the handrail of the deck. The sky was curtained with dark clouds, the wind blew harshly, and big tidal waves kept crashing on their ship. The storm was here and the people inside the ship were praying to God to save them. Esperanza eyed the angry sea and to the raging nȧkėd woman standing on the ocean's surface with a conch shell on her hand. The nȧkėd woman had eyes of swirling deep blue ocean. Her hair went here and there. When she opened her eyes, she screamed as the nȧkėd woman, with wrathful eyes, was finally in front of Esperanza and was riding the big tidal wave that's about to engulf the ship.
