The Morning After

1473 Words
Morgane hears someone calling his name through the fog that seems to fill his mind. His memories come back faster to him then consciousness does. A man with pointed standing in the living room of his childhood home claiming to be his father while his mother sobbing on her knees next to his unconscious father while she begs the man not to take him away. Morgane bolts straight up from whatever soft surface he is lying on as the memory of the man reaching out towards him jolts his mind into full consciousness. “Easy, Morgane. Thy… um… You are safe.” stated a man sitting on the foot end of the bed Morgane finds himself lying on covered in a warm blanket. “Wh-Who are you?” asked Morgane as he shifts as far away from the man as he can without falling off the bed while the man holds out a sealed bottle of water towards him. “I am called Miguel in this century. You are safe halfling fey. I assume you were taken against your will?” soothed Miguel with a warm patient comforting smile as he keeps holding the bottle out towards the scared young man while he admires Morgane’s violet hued eyes. “I… You aren’t with the man that came to take me away from my parents?” asked Morgane with a tentative hopeful expression as he hesitantly take the bottle of water from Miguel while he realizes it is morning wherever they are. “No, young one. I am not one of the Seelie fey. I take it one came to your home an claimed you are it’s child before stealing you away?” asked Miguel with a rueful smile while Morgane opens the bottle before Morgane nods in answer as he takes deep drink from the bottle. Miguel sighs as he silently curses the Seelie fey who had dumped his halfling child in Miguel’s dryad circle. “Morgane… The fey has left you in my care for time being for some reason. I do not know if it is for your own safety of for some folly of their own. But I promise you this. I will keep you safe and you do not have to go with them if you do not wish once they come for you.” started Miguel with a warm smile that grew as Morgane eyes light up with hope and a little trust as Morgan slowly lowers the bottle from his full lips. “They left you in my care, Morgane. I will protect you from all, even them. Now why don’t you go get cleaned up. The guest bathroom is down the hall on the left. I left some spare clothes, a new toothbrush and some toiletries for you in there. Once you are done, you can join me for breakfast down stairs. We can discuss what happens next while we eat.” finished Miguel as he slowly stands up from the bed to not startle the young man again and leaves as the shocked silent Morgane just nods in agreement again. Morgane sits there for a few more minute wondering if he can trust the man with the kind warm amber eyes before he decides he has nothing to lose. At least the man might be able to give him some answers to whatever insanity he has been drawn into. He ponders this as he pushes the blanket off him before making his way down the hall until he finds the open bathroom door. Morgane contemplates the insanity he finds him in as fairies and all that nonsense aren’t real but the man that had taken him from his home had had pointed ears. The man had even cast what had seem to be a spell on his father. Morgane worries if his father was okay as he had collapsed unconscious to the ground when the fey like man had spoken some strange words. Morgane shakes the thoughts out of his head as he turns on the shower before he opens the new tooth brush out of its packaging and brushes his teeth while the shower warms up. He can maybe ask the stranger if he can call his parents to make certain they are okay. The man seems kind and said he hadn’t taken part in his k********g, maybe he would even help Morgane to get home. Morgane rinses his mouth at the sink before getting in the shower to wash up as quickly as he could. He wanted answers and he wanted to know if his parents are okay. The only way he would get both was to talk to the man named Miguel, who might be an ally. Miguel is furious at the Seelie fey court and lets out his anger on the fruit on his chopping board while the frightened Morgane was getting cleaned up. He had set a spell around his home to prevent the young man from leaving but he has a feeling he has already won Morgane’s trust with the truth and a few small kindnesses he has already shown him. The fey bastard who had dumped Morgane ant his feet was probably the young man’s biological father. The Hades damned fey will not get his hands on the young man if the young man wants nothing to do with him. Morgane was left for safe keeping in his care and he will be kept safe even against those who has left him to be kept safe. “Um… Thanks for the shower and clothes… and stuff…” Miguel heard Morgane’s British accented voice coming from the kitchen doorway his back was turned to. “You are welcome, Morgane. Grab a cup of coffee and have a seat at the kitchen island. There is sugar next to the coffee machine, the mugs are in the cupboard above it and the milk is in the fridge.” replied Miguel as he forces his anger down at the Seelie fey while he fills his voice warm kindness. Miguel smiles to himself as he finishes cutting the last few pieces of fruit as he hears Morgane getting himself some coffee after only a second of hesitation. “You are from England I presume?” asked Miguel as he places a bowl full of fresh cut fruit on the kitchen island while Morgane sits down in front of one of the smaller bowls that has been set out for breakfast. “Yes… I assume we are still in the same country…” replied Morgane with uncertain dread as realization makes his empty stomach feel heavy. He had assumed they were still in England as Miguel’s voice had no certain accent. “Afraid not. You are currently in America.” replied Miguel as he fills two tall glasses with fresh orange juice while Morgane stares at him with utter shock. “You can call your parents once we are done eating. I am sure they wish to know you are safe, just as you wish to know they are. I cannot help you return home yet as the fey will only steal you away again. We will have to beat them at their own game first.” stated Miguel as he sits down in front of the second bowl he had set out on the island while he hands Morgane a large yogurt container with a spoon for him to dish some yogurt into his own bowl. “We will?” asked Morgane uncertainly as he accept the yogurt before he puts a few scoops into his own bowl while Miguel helps himself to some of the cut fruit. “We will. Oh, I love games and love to beat the fey bastards at their own. Before all of this is through I promise you that you will be home and free of them, Morgane. Just be patient and allow me to help you.” stated Miguel with a warm mischievous smile as he accepts the yogurt container back from Morgane and put some into his own bowl while Morgane takes some of the diced fruit into his own bowl. “Okay… I will. But what the bloody hell is going on? And who… I mean… what exactly are you?” asked Morgane uncertainly with a little heat as he could have sworn that there had been horns on top of Miguels head only a few seconds ago. “I am Satyr, Morgane. I will tell of the world you are apart of now. As you will need to know how to exist in it from now on…” started Miguel as he gives Morgane a warm caring sympathetic smile as he knew it would not be easy for the young man to swallow this truth as it would be to swallow their breakfast.
