Chapter 31
Awareness slowly returned, and with it, Dan Felty’s eyes opened for the first time in more than 24 hours. He was lethargic and a thick fog clouded his mind. He wasn’t sure where he was and wanted to go back to sleep.
Then, without warning and outside his control, a blast of air suddenly forced itself into his lungs, startling him. He tried to resist the sudden intrusion but was unable to. When it finished, he tried to take another breath on his own, but it was restricted, and he fought against the machine.
