Chapter 32 The Tucson Animal Shelter was a large building on the city's outskirts. It stood at the back of an industrial park, where the constant barking of the residents wouldn’t disturb anyone. Sadly the pet adoption rate was half of what the intake was, which meant new arrivals had a short, three-week window to be adopted before being euthanized. This fact broke the hearts of the employees who worked tirelessly to find homes for as many animals as possible.
