Chapter 39

865 Words

Chapter 39 Dan Felty sat in a recliner in his living room. It was 9 am on a Thursday, and the boredom was extreme. The kids were at school, and his wife had gone back to work. He’d already taken the dogs for a long walk, and now he sat feeling useless. He was looking forward to the next day. The doctors had told him he could return to work on Friday if he felt up to it. But for now, he sat looking at all the terrible options on the TV before turning it off for the second time this morning. His ringing phone startled him. He was glad for the distraction but recognized the ringtone as Mac’s, and he assumed she was calling only to check up on him again. “Yes, Mac. I’m still feeling fine,” he said immediately. “Good. I’m glad to hear it. It’ll be good to have you back tomorrow,” she said.
