Chapter 54
The task force again gathered in the conference room. It had been three days since there’d been any changes in the case, and they all feared Evan would strike again soon.
It had taken most of a day to find the phone he’d planted on the Greyhound bus bound for Miami, and frustrations increased when, as expected, it had been a decoy. The small duffle bag that held the phone was being examined in the crime lab, but no one expected it to reveal much.
Evan had wiped the phone clean of data before hiding it in the bag. Still, the detectives hoped something would be recoverable.
Mac displayed the report from Amber Goddard’s autopsy on the screen for the team to see, but there hadn’t been anything unexpected in it.
