Brian Connor had eagerly accepted the opportunity to travel to Montana for the possibility of seeing his son again. The long trip would be worth it if he could talk Blake into surrendering peacefully. He was thankful Dan Felty had arranged it.
With his parole all but guaranteed, there was little concern he wouldn’t behave and that he’d damage his chances for release.
The trip had taken 27 hours and, since Brian didn’t have a driver’s license, the detective did all the driving. However, the men talked most of the way and had almost become friends.
Brian Connor smiled at the son he hadn’t seen in 14 years. “Hi, Blake. I’ve missed you so much,” he said softly.
Evan shook his head vigorously. “Don’t you call me that! You took that name away from me.”
