I turned back and saw the two nurses at alert behind me.
“Well, a little privacy would be nice,” I said pointedly.
He paused for a time before ordering both nurses to leave the office. The female nurse objected, concerned, but he assuaged her concerns.
"I don't believe our friend will be aggressive, nurse." Isn't he just looking for some solitude so he can tell me what I need to know without feeling embarrassed?" He said this while smiling at me.
She grudgingly went with the male nurse after I nodded. Even when they closed the door, I could still feel their presence. They hadn't gotten very far yet.
The doctor was staring at me, watching everything I did. If I misbehaved, I was sure there was an alert button beneath his desk, and those two would be back in the office in seconds.
