With a new promise to myself, I walked towards the stairs to get to Maddie and made sure to wipe my face to be certain that she won’t suspect I was crying. I was almost at the stairs when I caught sight of Maddie walking in my direction and frowned. ‘Wasn’t she supposed to be waiting for me?’
“What took you so long? I got worried that you might have hurt yourself on the way.” She began talking in her oh so soft and concerned filled voice while her face showed her confusion.
I wanted to tell her, ‘I did hurt myself’ but refrained myself at the nick of time and shook my head. “I just couldn’t find my schedule on the table and was searching for it.” I lied to her with a straight face.
