Lilith Point of view
Maddie was silently sitting beside me while my mind reeled back to today’s morning incident. I knew I shouldn’t be thinking about the sinfully hot yet a complete jerk, Carson Woods, but my thoughts just had to go there.
It is as if he is the only thing my mind wants to think about, dream about and imagine about. There was this undeniable attraction that made me want to drop on my knees and lick those heavenly abs while staring in his deep ocean blue eyes. But then there was the rational part which always butted in and reminded me that the guy had no whatsoever interest in me.
I hated my smartness and rational part for reminding me of this because somewhere deep down I wanted to live in my fantasy world for just a little longer. “So, do you live nearby?” Maddie’s voice reached my ears, and I snapped out of my thoughts.
“Not really, but it’s not far either. Just half an hour drive from here. What about you?” I turned to her while asking the same question.
“Oh, I live nearby, It’s a ten minutes’ drive from my house.” She replied in a soft, almost inaudible voice.
“Umm, don’t you guys feel scared to live here? I mean, there are wild animals, especially wolves in this area and it can be dangerous.” I asked with curiosity lacing my words.
“There is nothing to be scared of, there is nothing like wolves in this area. The most you would see is a deer. The signs are just to keep away people from destroying the nature.” Maddie uttered while taking out a notebook from her bag.
My mouth formed an ‘O’ shape while I tried to not appear weird after hearing this piece of information. “You should definitely come to my place someday. I would show you around and you would be astonished to see how beautiful nature looks from close.” Maddie offered with a small smile on her face.
One thing I noticed ever since I met Maddie was that she always has a small smile on her face, which would widen every time she’s talking about something she loves or is excited about.
“So, would you like to come someday?” She asked me once again when I didn’t reply the first time.
“If only, you promise to come to my place,” I replied while raising one of my arched brows.
A blush formed on her olive skin at my words and my brow raised even more if that was possible. “I would love to come to your place someday.” She timidly supplied, and a grin formed on my lips.
“That’s awesome. So, do you have any neighbors or something? Don’t mind, it’s just that I’m a very curious person and you living in this area is quite fascinating to me.” I confessed to her.
“It’s ok, I’m also a very curious person, so I understand. And to answer your question, No, I don’t have any neighbors. But the President’s house is not far from my place.” She spoke in understanding.
My senses came to a halt at her words while my mind began weaving scenarios where I was swimming in his ocean eyes as he took me to his room. “Are you ok?” I distinctly heard Maddie’s voice and pulled through my thoughts.
“Umm, Yea.” I absently whispered.
Maddie nodded and was about to ask another question when the professor entered our class. I took out a notebook and pen from my bag and sat straight while the professor gave us an overview of our first-year schedule.
“Now, as you all know each other, I don’t think a formal introduction is needed. So, we will skip the formalities and start with our first topic, Electronic Circuits.” The professor announced and began writing on the whiteboard using the black and red marker.
Most of the students in my class were chatting with each other using chits while the rest of them were daydreaming. There were only a few who were actually paying attention and then there was Maddie who was also taking notes just like me with all seriousness.
The Professor, on the other hand, was simply ignoring the students who were not paying attention, and was teaching at a regular pace. He didn’t stop to scold the ones who were not paying attention and it kind of surprised me.
I had thought that the professor would be mad at the students, but he was continuing with his uncaring attitude. Our lecture went on for four hours, in which we learned everything from the basics. We were also given a ten minutes’ break during the lecture to relax before our Professor continued from where he left.
He had also given us an assignment that was due next Monday and a worksheet that we needed to submit in the last ten minutes of the lecture. As I was focused the whole time, I didn’t face any problems in completing my worksheet on time and the same was for Maddie.
Almost everyone was done with their worksheets when the professor announced ‘Time Up’. We all placed our worksheets on his desk and were asked to leave as he took the sheets and left.
Maddie and I exited our classroom at last because she had to text her sister about something important and I was waiting for her. “So, did you like today’s lecture?” Maddie asked me as we descended the stairs.
“Yea, it was really interesting. A tad bit long, but interesting. What about you?” I queried while holding the strap of my bag.
“It was really fun. I made some notes just like you and I’m already looking forward to our next class.” She excitedly told me.
I smiled at her with the same energy and was about to add more to her words when something popped in my head. “Oh, shoot! I forgot my schedule and map in our class. I had thought to ask you something about it, and I forgot to ask while we were leaving. You wait here for me; I will get them in a minute.” I explained to her and began climbing the stairs again.
It was one of my bad habits that I would always forget to carry my stuff and it irks me a lot, but sadly I can’t do anything about it. I shook my head, knowing this is not the time to curse my annoying habit as I should be glad that I remembered it now. What if I had remembered this when I was already back home? It would have been a disaster.
I momentarily forgot about my thoughts when I placed my feet on the first floor and walked towards my class. The closer I got the weirder and heavier I felt, it was like my heart was warning me to not go there but my mind was reminding me of the reason why I should go there.
I shook my tangled emotions and walked to the physics classroom to get my bearings. My emotions have been a crazy mess today and I should just let them be for the meantime, I thought.
