"I never arrive late. Simply put, everyone else is early." I threw my hair over my shoulder and giggled. While she was working, I went to my vanity and sat on the chair.
After two hours and a great deal of tugging out hair, we were finally finished. I applied her makeup and hair after Catherine finished mine. Jason sent me a mind connection when we were removing all of the makeup.
"I am hoping you are both set. Mom is panicking out over being late down here."
I scoffed at my mother's exaggeration. "Tell her we will descend in approximately two minutes."
"Are you ready?" Catherine was zipping up her luggage when I asked,
Yes. Later, I will get my stuff."
"Well, mum is a nervous wreck." As she shook her head, I laughed.
We walked out of my room together, linking arms, and down the stairs. The conversation ended the moment we left the bottom step.
"Nope."
When we looked up, Erik and Jason were glaring at us with daggers. We exchanged glances, shrugged, and burst out laughing.
"There is no way you could be serious about her wearing it, Mom." Jason practically cried when my mother came over and hugged me. I gave him a tongue-twist over her shoulder.
"She is stunning." Mom put her arm around me and gushed. "My little girl is now an adult." She sniffed a little.
"All right." Jason let out a sigh. "Daddy!" I froze at his cry. I was daddy's girl, but having assets did not make it any easier for him to be upset that I was maturing.
"What is wrong, Jason?" Dad entered and inquired.
"What is it, sweetheart?" He began before his gaze came to rest on me.
"Papa." I gave him a charming smile, the kind I always give when I want what I want. When I was younger, it always functioned, so I was hopeful it would continue to function.
"Duchess." As I approached him to offer him a hug, Daddy sighed. "On this one, I do agree with your brother." I could tell Jason was smirking when he said that.
"I concur with Vin." Uncle Kevin was talking to me behind my father.
"Papa!" Catherine stomped her foot and groaned.
"Permit them to be." Luna's aunt, Aunt Christabel, stated as she walked into the room. It is their graduation day today. Give them this time." She walked over to give us both a loving hug while grinning.
I am grateful, Auntie Christabel. In unison, we said.
"Now that it is resolved, should we?" Our Alpha, Uncle Chris, questioned.
Everyone else got into separate cars, but Catherine and I travelled with my parents as we all nodded and went out the door to the waiting automobiles outside.
Mom and dad were in the front having a quiet talk, and Catherine and I were snapping pictures in the rear, so the travel to school did not take too long. We both jumped out of the car as soon as it stopped and hurried inside to grab our gowns and cap. I got a chill down my spine when we were waiting in queue. Just in time, I glanced over my shoulder and saw Brody enter with Brittany and her entourage.
"At your six, Barbie." Catherine wrinkled up her face when I whispered to her. I heard her miserable voice as we stood there, waiting our turn.
"Ugh! I believed I smelled something. As everyone else chuckled, I turned slightly to see her waving her palm under her nose.
It has to be you. Everything was OK up until you entered." Catherine passed by her shoulder in a flash.
"She is still battling, huh?" Stepping closer, Brittany nudged me with her shoulder in a playful manner.
"I do not want to waste any more breath on people like you; I can fight on my own." She gasped, and I sassed back.
"Yes, she speaks." She appeared surprised. I do not know why she behaves in this way. What I detested most about her was her belief that she is superior to everyone because she is the daughter of an Alpha. "This is where I realised you were silent."
"Have you forgotten how I positioned you yesterday?" I was becoming angry now.
"When? I do not think I saw you." She twirled her hair around her finger and arched an innocent face.
"You don't, of course." I scowled at her sad demeanour. I had had enough of being polite. We were not at school, therefore I did not really care if we were with their pack or not on neutral territory. We were only indifferent because of a long-ago pact between their Alpha at the time and Uncle Chris's great-great grandfather. Nobody was aware of the terms of the deal.
Catherine moved to separate us as Brittany moved forward and got a little too near to me. She was my dearest buddy and a fierce combatant, despite being a Gamma's kid. In our pack, we began training at the age of ten for boys and twelve for girls. Uncle Chris just operated in that manner. You might be wondering why I am calling my Alpha and Luna my uncle and aunt. It is because Catherine's father and my dad both grew up in the same pack. While we were growing up, that was only customary, even if we were unrelated. X
"Next up!" The auditorium echoed with sounds that called attention to the here and now.
"You were fortuChris." I moved forward to retrieve my gown and cap, and Brittany gave me a sneer. As soon as we got those, Catherine and I put them on and went to the football pitch where everyone was sitting.
We made our way to our seats, took a seat, and waited for the ceremony to start.
Rose pricked up her ears and began to pace about in my thoughts as soon as the ceremony started. I made an effort to soothe her, but to no avail.
"Are you going to stop? I am attempting to focus."
She virtually gasped, "I can't."
