Chapter Eight

Everest

Where the hell is Knox! I have been looking for him all day, but he is nowhere to be found! Walking into my house my father stands looking less than pleased, like normal!

“Everest there you are, Knox is looking for you, he is in the kitchen.”

“Thank you, I have been looking for him.”

“You are welcome, how are things going with Princess Aurora?” She hates that title, I wish I could tell him everything is going great, but that is never going to happen. I thought if I could get to know Aurora a little more she would warm up to me, but she hates me and everything that involves us wolves right now.

“Everything is going okay, she is very stubborn.”

“I noticed. I’m sure she will warm up to everyone once the wedding is over. Talking of the wedding, your mum has the dress fitting booked for Friday. Can you let Aurora know please.” Oh s**t please don’t say this friday Aurora will not be back home until saturday!

“This friday?”

“Yes.”

“Why so soon? We still have six months and Aurora is busy this week. She has a meeting on Friday that is running over to Saturday, she will not be free until Sunday.”

“ENOUGH! I do not care how you do it or what you have to do, you will get her here on Friday at 12 o'clock for her dress fitting or so help me god she is going back to her father as he can do as he pleases with her. Do I make myself clear!” As much as i want to fight him i know I can’t i’m not the Alpha yet!

“Yes sir.”

“Now go find Knox.” Leaving my father in the entrance heading for the kitchen. There is no way in hell Aurora is going to be here for this dress fitting. Just telling her is going to make her hate me even more! Knox is sitting eating a sandwich at my dining table.

“Hey! I have been looking for you all day!”

“I know everyone has been telling me. What's up?”

“I need your help, come with me.”

“Where are we going?”

“My office we need to talk.” Knox follows me to my office where I know my father will not hear us talking. I need him to do something for me and this is something Knox is going to fight me on, but I hope he gives in quickly!

We reach my office and I make sure the door is firmly shut before doing anything.

“Everest you okay? You are acting weird?”

“Aurora is New York and I need you to cast a protection spell to make sure she doesn’t get herself killed!”

“Wait what? How is she in New York and you know I'm not going to cast any spell!”

“She had to go away for the week due to work, but my father is not find out that she is no longer here in the city. He will lose his s**t!”

“You think! You have let our further queen run off!”

“She hasn’t run off, she is coming back. Please Knox Aurora thinks she can handle anything but she is at risk being so far from home alone.”

“Why did you let her go in the first place!?”

“I f****d up okay! She told me about the trip and i got angry and drunk and she slipped away while I was asleep!”

“f**k sake Everest!”

“I know i f****d up and now my father has booked a dress fitting on friday and Aurora neds to be here, but she wont be!”

“Everest calm down breath. This is too much for you.”

“No! I’m fine, I'm just worried about Aurora.”

“I know you are and this need for her to love you back is clouding your judgement! She has you keeping secrets and lying to your alpha!”

“I’m fine! Aurora is fine, are you going to help me or not?”

“No, go and tell your dad the truth.”

“If i do that he is going to send her home back to her pack for her father to beat her to death!” Knox shoots his head to me, he knows f*****g up this situation will end badly for Aurora everyone wants her to fail. But I will not let that happen!

“Fine I will cast the spell, but Everest, don’t you dare ask me to do anything like this again!”

“Thank you. Knox you know i would never ask you to use your witch power unless it was important.” Knox looks at me with pity in his eyes, he thinks i’m stupid for chasing a girl who wants nothing to do with me. But this is what us wolves do, she is my mate I cannot turn her away even if she hates me. Knox is half wolf half witch he doesn’t have the urge of a mate like us full bloods do, he doesn’t care to have it either. Knox doesn’t do relationships or girls. He is happy to be eye candy apparently. He has had girlfriends in the past unlike me. But he doesn’t understand what I feel.

Knox casts the spell over Aurora protecting her from anything that could hurt her, like a shield. Knox will never know how thankful I am to have his help.

“Done, now nothing can hurt her, but it runs out at midnight on Sunday she should be home by then.”

“Thank you.”

“I did this for her, not you. We need her otherwise we are going to be stuck in the stone age forever!” Chuckling at his comment, he isn’t wrong we have been stuck in the old way for far too long! I do not want to have a child and force them into a marriage like this, I want them to be free to love who they wish. Unfortunately, Aurora and I have no choice but to go through that pain to make that happen.

“I agree we do need her help now more than ever.”

“She is going to change a lot more than everyone thinks she is. Right now they do not believe her, but that is because they are scared to move forward. Aurora is not going to be able to do this alone, and I think she may need more than just your help.”

“What do you mean?”

“Our people are not just going to trust her, Everest they will need to see what she can do first. Does she have any friends?”

“Yes, one.”

“Only one?”

“Yes his name is Jack, they have been best friends their whole life like us. Everyone else hates her.”

“Right we need Jack. I will help to gather a small group of people from our pack for Aurora. Once we have a small group of people, Aurora can train and she can teach them to show the rest of the pack what her plans are.” That is not a bad idea, Aurora might like that idea because she will be given the chance to prove herself. To everyone. Her job is to train us to control our wolf shifting when around humans. So that we can learn to live with them instead of hiding out in our hidden villages. I just hope my people do not make this harder than it needs to be by fighting Aurora.

“Alright good idea, we can sort that out. Thank you.”

“I’m going to do my best to help you both as well even if it pisses your dad off.”

“I’m sure he will be happy to see you taking part to be honest.”

“Yeah he hates Everest.”

“He doesn’t hate you. He would not have let you into his pack if he hated you.”

“You mean like how he isn’t letting Aurora into his pack right now?”

“That is different.”

“No it’s not, he is treating her the same way he treated me and still does. He doesn’t treat me likeI belong here and he is doing the same to Aurora. If he doesn’t accept her, no one else here will.”

“He will accept her, just help me! How am I going to get her back here in time for the dress fitting?”

“You are not and there is nothing I can do to help you there. Ask her and hope for the best?”

“Ask her and hope for the best? Have you met Aurora?”

“Not really I saw her at the hand over thing, and the day she was shunned from the pack. Not spoken to her or officially met.”

“Right yeah. Anyway, she will not fly home for this.”

“You do not know that.” Yes I do! Aurora will always put her job with the humans above me and the packs. She is stubborn to her beliefs and will not give anything else a chance! Which means my efforts are being wasted, but I’m not giving up on her.

“I do Knox, Aurora only seems to care about her job, she is out there risking her life right now because of it! She is not interested in being my wife, she is just following her orders.”

“You were the same not so long ago, begging your father to see sense and to let you choose your own wife. This is new to you both, she just needs time.” How much time? Aurora comes from an abusive pack, my father only hits me when my wolf comes uncontrollable whereas Aurora was beaten every other day by her alpha! Knowing what she will face on her return back to that pack is enough to keep me fighting!

“I was, but after finding out Aurora’s dad beats her for failing her tasks is enough to make me want to marry her to protect her.”

“Wait, what? He beats her?” Knox sounds angry, which is not a good thing, he has a very hard time controlling both his witch and wolf when he gets angry!

“This is why I am sticking by her, because she may think she is better off alone, but I know that is a death wish!”

“You need to call her!”

“She will be in bed now.”

“Ring her and tell her you are not going anywhere and she needs to be back by midday on Friday or we will all face the same punishment!”

“I cannot do that, it would be forcing her to return!”

“Good, we need her here, Everest. She belongs here.” Knox really believes that, but I'm not so sure I do anymore.

“I will do my best tomorrow, hopefully she will understand my reasons.”

“Just tell her the truth, if she isn’t here on friday she will be sent home.” I love Knox but he doesn’t understand how hard this is. I'm trying not to push Aurora away, but feel like that is all I am doing!

“I will do thank you for your help, i know it was a d**k move to ask you to use your powers.”

“It wasn't a d**k move you are trying to protect the girl you love.”

“Now you are getting carried away. I like her, yes, but I'm not in love with her yet. I can feel her wolf is on edge everytime i’m around and I hate it!”

“She has spent her life around people calling her the runt, and hurting her, she isn’t going to open up easily, Everest, give her time and she will.”

“I know, I just wish it was easier for you no.”

“I know, one day you will think back to now and wonder what all the worrying was about.” Oh I really hope knox is right.
