Sonia’s POV It was strange how silence could feel louder than words. Ever since that fight with Alexander, the house felt heavier, like every wall, every corridor, every piece of furniture remembered what we’d said to each other. I tried to tell myself it would fade with time, that maybe by morning things would settle, but it didn’t. For days now, we have been moving around each other like ghosts. He’d leave for work early, before I even came downstairs, and I’d hear the front door close, followed by the low hum of the car engine fading into the distance. No goodbyes. No looks. Nothing.
