Alexander’s POV The message blinked at me from the phone screen, pale and poisonous against the dark. You can’t hide this forever. Six words. That was all. And yet it felt like someone had reached through the screen and wrapped their hand around my throat. The room around me was quiet… too quiet. Only the faint hum of the ceiling fan, the low murmur of the wind through the curtains. The house was asleep. Or pretending to be. But I couldn’t sleep. Not after the night I’d had.
