Sonia’s POV The next morning didn’t feel like morning at all, it felt like aftermath. The sun came up soft and gray through the curtains, stretching long fingers across the tiled floor of my room. The villa was quiet, that rare, suspended silence after too much laughter, too much talking. I could hear only the faint hiss of the sea, and somewhere, a kettle beginning to whistle. Everything was ordinary. And yet, nothing was. Because every time I closed my eyes, I felt his mouth against mine. Every time I breathed, I remembered the scent of cedarwood and citrus and the warmth that came off his skin when he whispered my name like it meant something.
