Bringing Home A Stolen Wolf

592 Words
We are cornered with no way out. I simply look at him. “Which way is home?” I ask. He simply gives me a nod in the direction I need to go. I focus slightly on my wolf. Fairly quickly I begin to shake and my body gets warm, and within seconds I phase. I can see the pack that surrounds us flinch a little at my color and size. My fur is pure white and my eyes are blazing green. My size alone is startling; it comes with the alpha family trait. I lean down just enough to let my partner slump on my back. I let out a low snarl and they hesitate just enough to leave me an opening. I burst through the small opening they left and they both tumble over. And I keep up the sprinting pace. Only changing directions when he pulls my fur left or right. I can hear them behind us for about 15 minutes and then all of a sudden they all fade away. My partner pulls on both sides of my fur for me to slow down, but I hesitate. I don’t want to stop until I get him to his destination.  “It’s alright! This is my territory now. They can’t follow us in here unless they want to fight my patrollers.” he loudly grunts in my ear. Slowly I reduce my speed still listening, and smelling for the wolves that were chasing us. All I smell now is a scent that resembles the man on my back.  “Keep going straight. Youll run right to my medics house,” he says. I glace at him, confused because we are nowhere near out of the woods yet. He just smirked. “I can’t tell you all my secrets now can I, Ms. Lone Wolf.” he laughs then winces in pain. I pick up the pace a little. Soon enough we come to a tiny cottage in the middle of the woods. It was a stone pathway to the door and lanterns lighting the way. How have I not been this far into the forest yet? I’m sure there is a reason. I lean down to let him off my back and phase back. He has slumped over and I lean down to grab his arm. I have to mostly pull his body weight up. The ride was hard on his wounds.i to have to get him to the door, but this man is twice my size and at least double my weight. He isn’t much help, and I’m essentially dragging him the door.  Up this close to the cottage, it is smaller than I thought. It is completely brick with a chimney puffing with smoking. I have the slump him next to the door to knock on the door, and he begins coughing. The cough is wet and blood starts spilling out of the corner of his mouth. s**t, this is bad. I start pounding on the door as loud as I can. I begin to hear banging and grumbling from inside and stumbling to closer to the door.  “WHO THE HELL…” the man from the inside bellows as he swings open the door. The man standing in the threshold looks a short Santa Claus. He just stares at me. “What do you think you are doing pounding at my door at three in the morning?” he demands while the blood rushes to his face. I simply point down to the spot on the ground next to the open door.  “God damn Dean. you’ve been missing two weeks!” he grunts.
