The heavy steel doors of the underground safe room finally unlocked.
Nyx walked in, her usually fierce face covered in dirt and exhaustion. She looked straight at Aunt Clara, her voice shaking slightly. "The rogues are dead. But... the Alpha and six warriors are critically injured. They are in the pack hospital."
My heart completely stopped. The air vanished from my lungs.
I didn't wait for Clara or Nyx. I pushed past the crowd and sprinted out of the vault. I ran across the courtyard as fast as my legs could carry me, completely ignoring the cold wind. My chest burned with a terrifying, agonizing pain that didn't even feel like my own.
I burst through the double doors of the pack hospital. It was chaotic. Nurses were running everywhere.
